Snipers NEED flinch, hear me out

Bullet damage has wild drop off, it take 6-8 hits for most weapons to kill at medium range. With recoil and spread you're forced to stand still and shoot semi-auto. That means you're standing still in front of a sniper for 2-4 seconds and even if you're hitting them their aim is unaffected. If you're shooting at them they aren't suppressed.

ANY AVERAGE SNIPER WILL WIN EVERY TIME.

That doesn't even include sweet spot, you NEVER fight a sniper in sweet spot range, just go after a different objective or something. You just don't fight snipers, if they aren't terrible you're going to lose. So what are my options?

Option 1 - Try to run way out of my way to kill them. What happens when I kill them? They respawn in 3 seconds and we repeat it all again.

Option 2 - Get a sniper and spend the match being spiteful and ignoring objectives.

Option 3- Try to keep moving and accept that i'm going to die a few times to annoying snipers and there isn't a lot I can do about it.

I don't envy the devs, snipers have always been a tricky thing to balance.  Good news though, previous battlefield's have solutions.  SUPPRESSION --- FLINCH---- NO SWEET SPOT. I can't count the amount of times I've cursed whoever brought the sweet spot back. It feels like crap to die to a low skill shot because they were at the right distance, a range that makes return fire ineffective for most guns. All bullets lose energy with distance, everything about the sweet spot is ridiculous. There's a higher up somewhere at dice that loves griefing with snipers isn't there? Am I supposed to be completely unable to challenge a moderately skilled sniper? Big maps feel like a game of Halo duck hunt. Is it unreasonable for someone to flinch when being hit with a bullet? Please give us a way to fight back, its maddening.

  • I snipe on occasion depending on the challenges, my mood and what is happening in the AO.

I am not concerned one single bit about flinch.  What is the need really?  If I am sniping I either want to kill the other sniper if that is what Im trying to do and if I miss or just get a lot hit so what.  I have accomplished the important thing of throwing that other sniper off his game.  He either has to kill me, or to keep my head down or make me reposition.  The kill is nice but disruption is also a very important consideration.

I know, I know....... not getting the kill messes with your K/D but honestly I am not going to lose any sleep over your loss.

  • No they do not. BF6 has far more accurate automatic weapons with more range, higher muzzle velocity and damage than ever before. Even the ADS spread is 4 times less than BF4, all automatic weapons now have the same ADS spread as DMR's. Adding suppression on top of that will make sniper rifles far too much of a situational weapon, only useful for taking out unsuspecting targets at long range, and nearly useless for everything else.

In previous BF games because automatic weapons were not accurate at longer range they had suppression that would give them more chance to survive a sniper at a distance, but in BF6 you can just accurately return fire up to long range with all weapons but shotguns and sidearms.
They can add suppression, but then they would need to drastically lower non-sniper weapons ADS accuracy or we'll end up with yet another automatic weapon meta FPS game.

Concerning flinch, that was never a thing in BF games apart from being a visual effect only, actual flinch is more of a call of duty thing, so why do so many people keep pretending like it was always in BF games and needs to be reintroduced is ridiculous. Also there being no flinch is the case for all weapons. If a sniper hits you non fatally while you're using an AR/LMG/Carbine/SMG  you don't flinch even the slightest bit either, yet somehow it's only a problem when it concerns sniper rifles? Stop being a hypocrite.

Don't challenge a sniper when he has the advantage or go for headshots for a faster kill, isn't that what's always being told to sniper rifle users whenever they complain about sniper rifles repeatedly getting the shaft in balance changes?
"Just go for the head or you're doing it wrong". 🤡
So go for headshots too then if you want the quick kill, otherwise it's just a skill issue.

Newsflash: They have already nerfed sniper rifles hard multiple times, so that only proves the exact opposite of what you claim.
Lower muzzle velocity, extremely low lower body and limb damage multipliers (lowest ever in any BF game), much shorter/lower max damage (or "sweet spot") range than before, slower ADS time compared to earlier BF games, yet people still complain about it exactly as predicted, what a joke.

  • There was a reason Battlefield 3 and 4 had systems to counter snipers.  In BattleCoD6 though, they're actual answer to why they didn't bring those systems back was "because it isn't fun for the sniper player."

You look at the "sweet spot" ranges (another trash mechanic) and you see what range they think snipers are supposed to play at.  Snipers at these ranges are, by any real account, pretty easy targets for most players and weapons.  So any mechanic that doesn't favor the sniper at these ranges will be considered as "bad" by the devs.

Yea though, somehow I can shoot a sniper in the face and he doesn't even flinch, but he shoots me in the gut and I explode like I just swallowed a grenade.  Makes perfect sense.  At least, it would in CoD.

Oh, but the sweet spot is actually realistic, if you want to go that route.  In magnum calibers, the bullet is actually moving so fast on close impact that it can't even expand properly before it passes through the target.  So if they trying to be super realistic, it makes sense.  A .22 LR to the face, even at 100m in real life though, still has pretty good odds of killing you.  A 9mm, 223, 308, any modern cartridge it's lights out.  So, realism for the sniper (1 shot kills) but no realism for the person who has to deal with the sniper.  Lets also ignore that most LMGs are insanely accurate at range due to their heavy barrels and long barrel length, and the fact they're so heavy that recoil is mitigated greatly, if not completely, simply due to the weight of the weapon.  But most LMGs in BF6 are insanely inaccurate...

So yea, there's a dev higher up that plays sniper only, and refuses any nerf to the class.  That's how it reads.
