Sniper rifles are by definition a long range precision weapon. Any recon player should have a decent side arm they’re comfortable with using close range. If you really feel the need to get close as a recon with a sniper rifle, make sure you have a fast firing sniper rifle, so you can potentially get more than one shot out quickly. Otherwise do what everyone else has been doing for as long as Battlefield games have been around: one shot with the sniper rifle, switch to the side arm to quickly finish them off.
