Something missing in BF6 that made the older Battlefield games unique
The older Battlefield games had a better spotting system that enabled every player to spot an enemy. This made the solo arcade shooter type players, like in cod, less likely to flank and wipe out several squads. It basically make squads very vulnerable, slow, and unfavorable. Realisticly, soldiers call out enemy position as soon as they see them over radio. Lines like "2 enemy, 3 o'clock, 30 meters!" Drones are what shapes war today. But those already have superior advantage of having a massive angle.
This isolation of only having the recon class spot while others can't is what makes one recon with a drone the player that decides which side likely wins the entire match. The older Battlefield games forced players to rely a lot more on each other through spotting. Every player made the difference. It forced players to seek cover a lot more. There was a lot less running out in the open, with more hiding in bushes or hugging vehicles/walls/etc. But now, it's less communication and more isolated/solo without the ability to relay basic military concepts as spotting. Any soldier should be able to call in an enemy position if they see them, it's kind of a big aspect of teamwork.
Stealth was something the older Battlefield games had too. Usually because the maps were so big. Most players used the contour of the land and trees, bushes, buildings, etc. Those players usually spot the enemies first, like a real recon would. When they themselves get spotted, they get taken out fast. But that is the good challenge of being a real recon team. Some recon just sniped from overly far positions. They curved those bullets over hills.... They shot and moved to another spot because they can be sniped too once spotted. Being spotted by anyone keeps people moving.
Spotting made Battlefield different from most other games. It pretty much forced players to assist each other, as well as stop enemies from running past everyone in plain site. The pointing the area icon is barely used and players often ignore it because it could be old or nothing.
The TTK update is nice, but it is still pretty fast how players die. It is already an acrobatic gunplay with the 35-50lb body armor soldiers wear while sliding up a slope and jumping so high over others without break that leg.... I don't think people can even aim accurately doing it in reality...
