A quick search will show you there’s been a bunch of posts concerning suppression, especially when pertaining to LMGs. Yet there’s been zero announcement of any kind that any such mechanic is even being considered. So my best guess is ETA sometime when BF7 comes out.

Hopefully never. Bad mechanic that rewards missing.

  • It is in the game, just that it's very weak.

All it does is delay health regen for a short duration.

Ideally I'd like to see it reduce your ADS accuracy slightly, add more weapon sway and effect your spacial sound too.

Random inspiration mid-match — BF6 threat-fire suppression (near-miss resets regen / assists) is clean and I don’t want old blur-or-spread back, but it lacks field denial feel: you don’t feel pinned, just delayed-heal.

Modern take: don’t touch aim or screens — let sustained auto fire kick up environmental dust/cordite off the bullet lane. ARs + carbines throw thin translucent dust that barely cuts vision if you strafe out of the beaten zone; LMG lanes build thick haze that occludes IDs past ~35 m but not close ADS. Dust bonds to the fire lane / cover LOS, fades in ~0.4 s after you break the cone — so anchors (incl. long-range campers) eat it, rushers slip it. Only AR/carbine/LMG lay it; DMRs, marksman, snipers, pistols don’t.

One hard rule: this lane dust is its own occlusion layer, never folded into VL-7 psychoactive haze — VL-7 is a status-blind for gas modes , suppression dust is cover-fire dirt; stacking them would hard-blind counterplay. Keeps BF6’s no-aim-penalty line, adds the pinned-down weight, fixes “no one can punish hold-angles” without replaying old suppression.

Just a player idea, not a full doc — curious if DICE prototyped lane-dust before going pure regen-delay.

I completely agree with you. The gunplay feels entirely different without the suppression mechanic. Adding it back would make firefights feel much more intense and improve the overall pacing of the game.

But suppression is not just about missing

    It can help with snipers

It some sort of balance factor between "laser guns" and guns with bad recoil

And overall encourage people to use their brain mid firefight maybe firing in short burst when suppressed and stuff

Instead of just run and gun and spray and pray playstile

  • Personally I would like the old suppression back but if they could at least increase the delay for hp regen delay it would make a huge difference. Current delay is too short it makes no difference and supply bag cancels it and makes hp regen activation even faster then it already is. When combo with the respawn on death, what's the point on suppressing? They need to incentivice supression and give players real consequences otherwise it's pointless

  • I forget if it was in the QA or a post by a CM here...

Essentially, they have considered returning suppression as it was.  They decided that it's not fun for the person who is being suppressed, because they have to... idk, not stand out in the open and get shot at I guess?

So no suppression because it makes the CoD kids mad.  We all know we can't let the baby raging console kids angry at all ever, so suppression doesn't exist and snipers can just eat bullets, point at your face and kill you in one shot.

There is a reason the real BF games had it.  It was the counter to long range engagements.  You got suppressed because you were an idiot who stood out in the open.  The CoD kids really do hate having to actually pay attention for more than .0000000000000001 seconds.
