Suppression is pointless . LMGs are useless

The only advantage of LMGs is being able to put lots of bullets down range and 'pin' enemies.

With no visual or aim effecting element to it whatsoever, suppression does effectively nothing. They can simply stand there and calmy headshot you because every other gun is better, stats-wise. Even the SMG - because it has absolutely no recoil - can beat the LMG at mid+ ranges where the LMG should excel.

Yes I know it stops them healing. This is almost always - at the ranges LMGs are intended to operate - going to mean nothing.

Your only option is to rush their position occasionally taking a shot to keep them supressed and effectively announcing your approach so that when you get there they, or their buddies who will have turned up by now, hose you down with vastly superior TTK.

It's yet another bit of brain dead 'design' from DICE to make the players of 'other franchises' and the kill-streak streamers comfy and happy.

Can't have them not able to employ their uber gunplay skills every second, can we. Gods forbid they ever have to make tactical choices and use cover or deal with effective ranges.

Nope, just stand there, return fire and win because they are using this month's meta-weapon.

  • I think suppression should add an accuracy or screen blur penalty to the opponent (I thought it used to several BFs back).  As it is now its almost impossible to get to work.  I have over 90 hours in this game and mostly play support but still haven't unlocked the suppression challenges.

Bf3 had the best suppression and people hated it because it was effective and did what suppression should.

Yeah the challenges are doubly frustrating because to get the suppression scores (which is what counts for the challenge) it's different and even worse than normal suppression.

You have to do it from range (25m+?)
They have to be injured and then suppressed so they can't heal

So, yeah, try and hit them at range, then put a bullet or two around them... Great huh?

  • Yeah, it not fun. Gotta keep complaining about it to get it restored, though.

Being supprt isnt as fun becsue it. Dont get me start3d on mortars...

Pretty big advantage if you ask me. Insane multi-kill potential.

LMGs on average have higher base damage and have less damage drop off at range. At mid-range the TTK of LMGs is significantly lower than that of SMGs. After the Season 1 patch, SMGs gained more spread and LMGs got less spread. The thing about recoil is that you can counteract it, either by using recoil control, or by using attachments that significantly reduce recoil. The end result is that LMGs now easily beat SMGs at mid-range.
