SVK-8.6 after limb multipliers
To preface, I think the addition of limb multipliers has overall been good for the health of gunplay in this game. Unfortunately, I do believe they negatively impact some guns more than others. In this case specifically, I will be talking about the SVK-8.6.
The SVK-8.6 falls within the often overlooked DMR class. It used to be the only weapon in the game that could reliably 2-shot enemies at all ranges, and occasionally 1-shot headshot very up close. This strong trait is offset by its incredibly high recoil, low rate of fire, and by having the lowest control stat of any weapon in the game.
Ever since the addition of limb multipliers this has changed. Though its low end damage was slightly increased from 50 to 52.5 to offset the new multipliers, hitting 2 limbs will now result in a 3-shot kill instead, which effectively doubles the weapons TTK from 0.400 to 0.800.
Some people may laugh and say "get good" or "learn to aim", but given the weapon is primarily used at longer ranges, and with the new lower bullet velocity and higher drag coefficients (which I 100% agree with) this is easier said than done. It is incredibly punishing for this weapon to hit anything that isn't a chest or head shot. Long range targets are so small and often moving meaning limb shots will happen very often.
Other DMRs like the M39 EMR and SVDM suffered no penalty from the addition of limb multipliers, and I also find myself using the Mini Scout instead, as the 1-shot headshot is far more reliable than the now unreliable 2 shots it takes for the SVK-8.6.
Over time I have thought of various solutions listed below that I hope may be considered.
Increase low-end damage to 55 and reduce top-end damage to 60.
A simple solution, this would effectively nullify the limb multipliers, while also reigning in its close range damage. You would no longer be able to 1-shot headshot at close range unless using Hollow Point ammo.
Slightly reduce overall recoil.
I don't love this option, but high recoil is one of the traits used to offset its strength. If limb multipliers must stay, then it should be slightly easier to control, and I would never want its ROF changed, so recoil is the better solution.
Give the gun new attachments, like a 20 point light barrel, or the DMR recoil buffer.
Once again, if limb multipliers must stay, give us the ability to improve other aspects of the gun, like visual recoil or ADS accuracy while moving. You could even make a new magazine that only holds 6 shots, but would also increase ADS accuracy while moving, similar to the M240L.
Remove limb multipliers for this weapon specifically.
This solution actually makes sense, given the SVK-8.6 has the largest caliber cartridge in the game. It'd be a unique trait amongst all the other weapons and you could then bring its low-end damage back to 50 to offset this.
I recognize that many people don't care or don't want this nerf reverted, as they don't use this weapon and may find themselves on the wrong end of one otherwise. But I do hope you've at least read what I have to say, and understand that my grievances with the SVK-8.6 have some merit. If you've read this far, thank you!
