It's possible you've been very unlucky, but my guess also includes that what should 'average out' doesn't because EA/DICE don't attempt to make matches 'fair' with their team balancing.
They patented a win-loss sequence retention algorithm some years ago and I suspect they still use it.
They believe players stay in game longer if they get a win every now and again even if that is a complete one-sided land-slide.
This can have the result of skewing what should on average be 50:50 win:lose results.
Another thing that could be skewing the average is a bad method of calculating skill. I have lots of time to play lately so I am already rank 130, but skill-wise I am just slightly above-average really. In some small modes I often get put in squads with very low ranking players and I assume it's because the 'skill' calculation is weighting my rank way too heavily and ignoring my stats because it much more complex to use them.
Another thing is there are many high ranking players that have gotten there using bot farms and in real games they are useless, so the skill calculation is weighting them wrongly within the team.
Another thing is there are many players doing challenges and are too selfish to wait until their team is doing well and doesn't need their help to win.
I'll be honest, even in my beloved BF1 the team balancing was often horrible and EA/DICE have clearly not learned anything in the last 10 years because there are so many examples of design refinements that they haven't even carried forward never mind improved on.
