The Overuse of Spotting and Pings Has Ruined Stealth and Tactical Gameplay

I wanted to share feedback about how the constant spotting, pinging, and radar visibility are ruining Battlefield’s tactical gameplay. There are just too many ways to be spotted. Shooting an unsuppressed weapon reveals your position on the minimap, suppressors only reduce detection range, snipers auto spot players when aiming, teammates can manually ping, and UAV drones reveal everyone across the map.

Because of this, you are almost always visible. Flanking, ambushing, and stealthy gameplay are nearly impossible. Even when you take out an enemy from a good position, their teammates immediately know where you are. The game relies far too much on artificial spotting systems instead of letting players use their own awareness, hearing gunfire, or spotting enemies naturally.

I am not asking for a milsim, but the game needs to be more grounded. Short realistic indicators, like a brief red dot on the compass when firing, would be fine. The constant pings, auto spots, and UAV sweeps are distracting and take away from what makes Battlefield fun. Please consider reducing some of these mechanics so players can rely more on skill and awareness, making the game more tactical and rewarding.

They reduced the amount of spotting in Battlefield V. The sentiment that a lot of people had was that the change was mostly positive, but it also worsened the existing problems with the visibility. While it certainly improved stealth and tactical gameplay, it also incentivized camping more. So it's something that has both advantages and disadvantages.

  • How about you use smoke grenades to push/flank? Battlefield has always been like this in regards to spotting. They also made changes to where only recon can auto spot.

  • I have to agree here, and this is coming from someone that really plays Recon class.   It's too easy, and with auto-spotting, I don't have to put any effort.   Just scope in a general area of the map and it reveals everyone making it extremely easy to get someone that is hiding or even trying to flank.

  • this is the least spot friendly battlefield. The spots last very briefly the minimap is far more useful for knowing where an enemy is I suggest you use it more often. this is a non issue.

  • There are no tactics in BF6. Just run around from flag to flag. That's about as deep as gameplay goes
