They're OP, you just zoom blindly and you find people, too easy, it's fine like it is imho, even too much, and also they should add the option to lock thermals on portal experiences, and range finder too, if it's too easy you don't even enjoy gaming anymore.

I agree withadlercarme thermal scopes are crutches and we definitely don’t need more of them.
And that’s also exactly the reason why apart from its thermal capability the 3x is one of the worst scopes in game. The benefits of you spotting through thermal should be offset by downsides such as a narrow sight and slow ADS, not to mention it should cost that many weapon points that you won’t be able to equip any other attachment besides perhaps a basic low tier grip . - Slichnid7 days agoSeasoned Newcomer
So why then snipers deserve excelent 6x thermal scope ? I need 3x for DMR, but its crap

None of us said snipers deserve an excellent 6x thermal scope. Thermal scopes in general are crutches and even worse there’s no counter to it.

I'd be happy to have something between the 1.5 and the 6 that's not a tiny window.
And people really make too much of those scopes. They already cost quite a bit and come with plenty of disadvantages, not the least the difficulty in reading a situation while ADSing. Heck, for a supposed overpowered piece of gear, it's funny how little they come up in actual matches...

Thermal scopes was never a good idear, gives an unfair advantage and if you start useing them, you gonna have a hard time switching back.

There's an easy way to balance to thermal scopes.
Add a 1x and a 2x thermal for 10 pointsAdd a cyclable thermal between 1x-3x for 20 points
Keep the current 3x and 1.5x thermals but reduce the points on them
Since thermal scopes require batteries (As do red dot sights too) but since this is a video game we can keep the red dots as is.
Add battery percentage level to thermal sights when the battery runs out the thermal sight turns into a glorified red dot sight.Batteries in thermal sights in real life can last from 4 hours up to 10 hours.
how we translate this in game idk- maybe 5-10min so it's not getting spammed?
add in a separate unlockable for each thermal for "second battery for increased run time" at the cost of 5 extra points.

Could be interesting as a mechanic, but if I were to game-ify it, I’d have it empty in say 10 seconds, but recharge in 10 seconds as well. Basically you can’t camp and check your scope all the time, and run the risk of running out while shooting, but you don’t run into the more punishing issue of not having battery for the rest of the match.

nah 10 seconds would be too low. i think 5-10mins is reasonable.
i'd lean more towards 5 mins though myself and have it so the only way it "recharges" is by "replacing" the battery in the scope. you get two on spawning.
this would help make it far more situational.
could maybe have an "Extended" battery life attachment which extends it to 10mins but to balance it id increase weapon draw time and make it cost an extra 5 points on top of the actual attatchment points be that 5 25 whatever.

I misunderstood, for me it would only discharge when ADS’ing, not when just running around. IRL, you’d put it on standby.
But let’s say it’s draining all the time: if you get two recharges when spawning and the battery lasts 5 minutes, that means you have 15 minutes of juice per spawn. With a match lasting 20 to 30 minutes, that means you would only run out if you did not die once in the whole match.
But frankly, I think however you balance it, it’s way too complicated to ever be adopted. Any changes have to be simple enough and somewhat in line with how everything else works (because that means those mechanics are already coded in), hence having the battery recharge the same way many of the gadgets do.
