To the bf6 developers: Newcomers, Matchmaking, Trainingground
Dear development team,
I recently bought a PS5 and downloaded the game because I really wanted to move away from CODM. First of all, I’d like to thank you for the excellently executed game—it’s fun at times, but only at times. Here are a few points that I find rather negative and would like to mention:
Difficulty for newcomers/Map Design
In my opinion the game seems heavily geared toward professional gamers. Newcomers have almost no chance (I’ve invested 90 hours, which is a lot of time for a working person with a family) to hold their own or learn the game well. Even aiming with the controller is quite challenging (okay, it’s a matter of practice), and anyone who isn’t willing to practice for hours quickly loses the fun. Yet fun is repeatedly emphasized by the developers in interviews. Casual players who can only spend one or two hours per week have little opportunity to improve or even learn the game. Simpler maps (not so complex in structure) for beginners are urgently needed (perhaps maps that can only be played up to a certain level), and a better matchmaking system is essential—see the next point:
Matchmaking issues
The matchmaking feels far too harsh. I’m currently rank 54 and constantly get thrown into multiplayer matches with players around rank 150+. This leaves me with almost no chance to improve my own skill set, because I’m constantly overwhelmed from all sides by top players. Unless I “camp” (which is completely stupid), a life lasts only a few seconds, and encountering more than one player at my level is practically impossible. This is incredibly frustrating and greatly reduces the enjoyment of the game. I would love to be able to face opponents who are similarly “bad” or just a bit better to constantly improve.
Missing training ground
There is no well‑designed training area where you can practice against bots or get to know the various vehicles. The shooting range is of little help, especially when it comes to sensitivity settings. A better training zone would allow players to prepare themselves and learn the game’s mechanics more effectively. I built my own training facility in the portal, which is actually cool, but unfortunately it crashes constantly after about five minutes. Bug?
The game and its skill‑level progression should be designed so that it remains accessible and enjoyable for all type of players—not just for semi‑pros, pros, or long‑time Battlefield veterans. Think about the casual community, which may not be able to play every day but still wants a good gaming experience.
Thanks!
