Unlock Conditions for Equipment and Weapons in the Current Game

With the conclusion of the Beta test, DICE effectively improved game mechanics based on player feedback, and the development team's sincere attitude is commendable. However, following the official release on October 7th, I pre-ordered the Phantom Edition.

As a dedicated Battlefield player with extensive experience in BF4, BF1, BF5, and BF2042, and after thorough discussion within the broader player community, I have summarized the following shortcomings. We hope the developers can provide a prompt response and a commitment to easing these unlock conditions soon.

1.  In the 2024 *Call of Duty Black Ops 6* weapon progression system, players need to reach "1200 kills" to fully complete the Mastery challenge for a weapon. In BF6, however, this number is 3500 kills. DICE must understand that the majority of BF6 players are casual gamers with average skills. Achieving this condition requires repeatedly using a single weapon for potentially hundreds of hours. Most of us do not have large amounts of time to play games daily. When players wish to unlock weapon attachments, other firearms, or equipment quickly, they find the requirements excessively demanding, requiring a significant time investment. This does not align with the wishes of our player community.

2.  After the Beta test concluded, the player community noticed a significant increase in recoil and bullet spread for nearly every weapon. Furthermore, due to the disparity between soldier sprint speed and bullet velocity in BF6, many players tend to adopt a "Camper" playstyle – staying stationary behind cover to eliminate passing players. Because mobility is relatively limited, the effectiveness of "Camping" is high. This does not fit the intended large-scale, dynamic combat design philosophy traditionally associated with Battlefield.

3.  Regarding the Assault class's initial loadout: the ability to equip two primary weapons results in the player having only two spare magazines, which is an extremely low amount of reserve ammunition. Furthermore, the equipment slot is occupied solely by a non-lethal Siege Ladder. This severely limits the Assault class's ability to effectively counter enemies when under suppressive fire. Therefore, the broader player community suggests replacing the shotgun or carbine in slot 3 with a Grenade Launcher (equipped with either High-Explosive or Thermite rounds). Only when the primary weapon has a standard reserve of 5 magazines will the Assault class have a balanced experience.

4.  The "Smoke Grenade" is currently exclusive to the Support class. The player community widely agrees that this is highly unreasonable. Smoke grenades are a crucial tool for advancing across open terrain and obscuring enemy sightlines. They should be universal throwable items, available for all four classes to equip. This would be the correct design choice for a large-scale battlefield game like BF6.

The following two points are the core issues I, and many others, encountered after the official game launch on October 10th at 23:00 GMT+8, which significantly impact the gameplay experience for the vast majority of players. DICE undoubtedly has the capability to address these issues promptly. I would like to offer the following suggestions for the development team's consideration:

1.  Reduce the unlock requirements for weapons, class specialties, and equipment. Lower the thresholds by at least a factor of 10. For example, require "350 kills" to unlock all attachments for a weapon. Unlock conditions for new weapons and equipment should be lowered even further. More relaxed unlock criteria would encourage players to experiment with new weapons, gear, and specialties, thereby increasing gameplay variety and enjoyment.

2.  Take reference from modern-setting Battlefield titles like BF4 and BF2042 by increasing the soldier sprint speed. This would reduce the effectiveness and survivability of "Campers."

3.  Replace the shotgun in the Assault class's slot 3 with a Grenade Launcher. This provides players with an effective countermeasure while also ensuring they have a standard amount of reserve ammunition.

4.  Broaden the accessibility of Smoke Grenades. Make Smoke Grenades, and potentially all throwables, available for all four classes to equip.

The active promotion efforts of DICE, its associated studios, and even EA within China give me confidence that you possess the ability to adjust game mechanics based on player feedback. We expect you to live up to the calls from our vast player community. While BF6 currently enjoys a positive reputation, promptly addressing these minor issues is the right approach to clear obstacles and encourage more players to purchase BF6 in the future.

  • They got way over zealous with the changes from the beta. The beta was peak, the movement feels very sluggish, the bloom/spread when shooting as well as the massive recoil adjustments is horrible, the shotgun is still insanely annoying with campers, the unlock requirements for virtually everything is one of the worst things I've seen in almost any game. Not only are they laborious but you can't even start unlocking the main stuff until your already rank20+, as well as having very high and/or tedious requirements. Most of the decent weapon attachments are rank 30+ which is just insulting. The brightness is also very bad, can't even see into buildings or out of them half the time.

    No way, movement is perfect!
The unlock progression is BRUTAL however, that I can agree on.
