There’s definitely something else going on alongside Aim Assist. I borrowed a controller from a friend yesterday, I’d had it with these aim assist players and wanted to see if I could match their “skill”. First off, on PC, using a controller is difficult if you’re not used to it. Lots of trying to figure out keyboard controls and what goes on limited buttons on the controller.
I tried it out on casual breakthrough.
It absolutely helps aim. It absolutely reduces recoil/bloom. It’s deadly up close, and hipfire is crazy accurate. It takes almost no effort to maintain aim. That said - you cannot maintain full auto fire without bloom becoming a factor except for some SMG or other “meta” zero recoil setups. You cannot consistently make headshots with sniper rifles or any other weapon… Assist doesn’t work like that, especially at increased distances. I used all the weapon classes and the meta setups made many of guns laser beams. So if someone’s constantly headshotting, that’s big sus, and highly likely a cheat. Getting 60 meter no miss kills with SMGs is something I couldn’t really do, so either players doing this are outright cheating or there’s further setup I needed to do.
I dislike controllers and will not be using it further, I’ve never owned a console, I do just as well with MnK, but the advantage is crystal clear. You can get at or near zero bloom for many kits, it provides a clear advantage, zero-bloom kills at greater distances possibly indicate cheats or other assists like scripts or Cronus devices.
