As stupid as it may sound, saying something like that can get you punished. EA treats that kind of wording as hate speech under their Positive Play rules. 😆

Is it AI that is moderating or is it live people?

It’s probably AI handling the bans. The anti-cheat seems to be running automated checks and flagging anything it recognizes, even if it’s just another anti-cheat from a different game ( Yes this is happening EA !! ). Basically, it’s auto-banning people without any human review that’s my theory anyway. I can’t prove it, but if that’s the case, it’s definitely not 100% legal for them to be doing it.

Most likely AI for the first level then possibly reviewed by a person. EA being a larger company would tend to lean towards being more strict on what you can say in chat or voice. They want to appeal to everyone from teens all the way up to the boomers so I could see them dropping the ban hammer over anything that would offend anyone.

this is how most shadowbans in cod happen too

Nah, dude; I was comm banned super hard in COD. And rightfully so there. I was an absolute flame thrower in COD. But this... This is absolutely wild to have my entire EA account banned for this. Has anyone been able to appeal and get out from under it? From this point, I'm going to turn off all in-game chat features.

The major AAA publishers always tend to be extremely strict regarding these matters, because they tend to draw a lot of negative attention if they don't adequately address toxicity. They consider it hateful conduct if you use a word describing a sexual orientation in a derogatory manner. Regardless of what you may think about it, if you make use of their services, they set the rules and you're expected to abide by them.

What I don't understand is that if "gay" is such an egregious violation. Why is that also not filtered along with F##K and others.

This is what google had to say lol, KamiDOTexe
EA uses automated chat moderation powered by third-party tools (like ToS enforcement AIs or Microsoft’s Community Sift) to detect “offensive” or “derogatory” language.
The system often doesn’t interpret context — so using the word “gay” in a non-insulting or neutral way can still get flagged if it’s used negatively toward anything (“this map is gay” = interpreted as “gay = bad”).
Should be able to appeal it here some where - https://help.ea.com/en/articles/security-and-rules/locked-banned-suspended-accounts/ - sakrelij5 hours agoNew Scout
ahh yes... the good old day of bf3 when someone was heavily suppressed... "im getting my $h!t pushed in here!" how far the woke EA has fallen
