What a Beta is: It's a stress test and to test compatibility and stability on a wide range of configurations. It also helps to find any bugs or issues that may have been overlooked during internal testing.
What a Beta isn't: A preview of the game to see if you like it. An opportunity to play the game early. An opportunity to give feedback on game decisions that have been made a long time ago and in no way can be reverted or changed so close to release.
As much as I'd like the beta to last until release...that's just not realistic and not what the Beta is intended for.
