Bannable name?

Hello guys good afternoon. I came here seeking support. My PSN name was "MegaElChapoDaTug" which comes from

Mega (nickname)

Chaparro (Portuguese slang)

Tuga (Slang for Portuguese)

since mega was taken and tuga also I decided to create (MegaElchapoDaTug)

All together it formed my nickname on PSN. from my surprise after 7 years of having my PSN name, I was greeted with an email from EA saying someone reported my name and if I kept playing I could get banned for apparently no reason other than my name. I appealed both times and was greeted with the same message. Now since support didn't actually gave me a reason and I even after explained the contest, they didn't actually formulate why it was happening besides an offensive name related to drugs, there are no drugs involved. And El Chapo (and I don't think he has exclusive rights to the name right?) wasn't related to the drug dealer. Nor was it made after the ElChapo hype. EA made me create an account name for EA games and I did, and I'm still getting penalized for my PSN NAME. I was forced to pay a name change just so I wouldn't get banned for it.

Can some actually support and not AI help me out? I'm getting penalized for no reason and giving me an offense for a name that's outside of the platform and made many years ago shouldn't be giving me this much headache

  • At a guess I imagine that it is the El Chapo bit, since he's infamous, so I could see why ToS might have an issue with it. However, you could try https://help.ea.com/customer-care in case they can give you any clarity.

It might be worth considering changing the username, though, to avoid the risk of a suspension or ban.

I've tried, and they locked the appeal and I didn't find any other way to contact support , that's why tried here in the forum maybe someone in the higher up could explain it better rather than just "you have an offensive name evolving drugs". Well anyway thank you I guess

  • This is a community driven forum so we will not be able to assist you with account issues such as this.  I recommend contacting EA Customer Support for further clarification about the message you received.
