Battlefield 6 controller vehicle controls not working: vehicles won’t accelerate or move
- 2 days ago
Hey, petsfart and everyone else here who chimed in through the months of experiencing this.
I recently had this happen to me in the last few weeks and shrugged it off as I'm more of a helicopter pilot most of the time, until I finally reached the breaking point where I had to use a Humvee to escape a heated moment in RedSec, only to not have the acceleration work at all. I was a sitting duck. :(
I checked the controller settings in Battlefield 6 to make sure they were correct and reset to default (I'm not one to have the custom bindings)
I searched our forums and came across this post in hopes of a workaround, since I found one before for an unrelated issue.
This is how I fixed it:- I am on Xbox and have a Series X controller
- I updated the firmware on my Seriex X controller, thinking it was that, but the results were the same
- I confirmed I had the latest Xbox software update
- I went in-game with my other original Xbox controller, and it worked fine. This led me to believe it's controller-related
- I went to the controller settings on Xbox, where you can recalibrate it. Everything worked well until I tested out the left trigger, and it wasn't registering my pulls at all when I got down to the lowest dot setting on the back
- I know my controller has dropped here and there and has had it for a while, so I suspect something was blocking the trigger on the inside. I shook the controller and heard some rattling
- I ended up pulling off the grip (which I don't recommend since it can't be put back on and may pull apart the plastic on your controller). I noticed extensive cracking in the plastic and a significant gap around the left trigger. I used a flathead screwdriver to pop up the trigger a bit, try to loosen it slightly, and rattled my controller around. A couple of small plastic pieces fell out
- Loaded up the game, and it is now the humvee is moving
Looking back, I also noticed that when I pulled up my map, it would randomly start to slowly zoom back out. This indicates the left trigger was being initiated. I suspect this is causing the vehicle to brake, which is why it wouldn't accelerate.
This is anecdotal, but I wanted to share what I did to find what worked for me. If others are experiencing this even after testing multiple controllers, we encourage them to make reports. From my side, it looked like a hardware issue. Given the few, sporadic reports over the last 6 months, it is possible that it is controller-related.
I attached a picture of my battle-scarred controller, which has now been revived and is ready to get out there on the battlefield.
