BF6 - Crash on Shader Load / FSR2 Init – INVALID_POINTER_READ
Battlefield 6 crashes consistently during shader loading before reaching the main menu.
The crash occurs in the FSR2 pipeline (bf6.exe!ffxFsr2ResourceIsNull) with an access violation 0xc0000005. Steps to reproduce: launch game, shader compilation starts, crash occurs.
Tried fixes include clearing shader and config files, DDU and clean GPU driver reinstall, forcing DX11 with -dx11, disabling Windows HDR, disabling overlays such as Steam, GeForce Experience, and MSI Afterburner, and running the game as Administrator.
Crash details: function bf6.exe!ffxFsr2ResourceIsNull, access violation 0xc0000005, failure hash c6607993-a4db-3511-7d47-8a7ce6e5a44c.
System: Windows 11, GPU Nvidia 3080TI. Crash reproducible every launch.
Any advice on workarounds for FSR2 or shader initialization issues or confirmation of a patch would be appreciated.
I have just tried this tip and i'm able to get into the game now. Unsure if it was my reinstall of the game but i did notice that in steam downloads it was showing BF6 with a message showing not released yet and couldn't clear it. Followed this post after my reinstall to clear download cache and seems to work now.
