Bf6 crashes while loading maps– INVALID_POINTER_WRITE in code (c0000005)

Hi EA / DICE team,

Since the latest update (or since launch for some players), the game crashes 100% of the time during map loading/screen transition with the following error:

  • Exception Code: 0xc0000005 (Access Violation – Invalid Pointer Write)
  • Faulting module: ntdll.dll (but triggered inside bf6.exe)
  • Crash occurs in AMD FSR 2 related code (ffxFsr2ResourceIsNull symbols visible in stack)
  • Happens on multiple different maps, both in multiplayer and Portal mode
  • No crash logs appear in Windows Event Viewer
  • Only Frostbite minidumps are created

This issue started (or became much worse) after the latest title update and is being reported by hundreds of players with the exact same bucket ID and FSR2-related symbols in the call stack.

Full WinDbg !analyze -v output (19 November 2025) in attachment;

As you can see in dump file , the crash happens deep inside the AMD FSR 2 implementation (ffxFsr2ResourceIsNull symbols) during critical section contention while loading resources/shaders on map load.

Temporary workarounds (that prove it’s FSR2-related):

  • Disabling Upscaling entirely (FSR 2 off)
  • Deleting shader cache
  • Lowering texture/mesh quality

This issue started immediately after today's title update (November 19, 2025). The game was completely stable and I could play normally before installing the patch released earlier today. The crashes began 100 % on the first map load after the update.

This exact same bucket ID (INVALID_POINTER_WRITE_c0000005_bf6.exe!Unknown) and FSR2 symbols are being reported by hundreds of players on Reddit, Steam forums and Answers HQ since Season 7 / the most recent title update.

Temporary workarounds that help most people (but are not acceptable long-term fixes):

  • Completely disabling Upscaling (turning FSR 2 off)
  • Deleting shader cache
  • Lowering Texture Quality / Mesh Quality

System specs

  • CPU: intel 14700K
  • GPU: Nvidia rtx 3090
  • RAM: DDR5 2x16 GB
  • Windows 11 25H2
  • Game installed on M2 SSD

We urge you to release an immediate patch/fix.

    • I have to repair BF6
    • then I can join one game
    • at map change the game freezes on the preview screen of the next map without having loaded anything - just freezes
    • I have to end the games task in windows task manager
    • then I have to repair again and everything starts all over again....1 map....freeze or ctd on map change....kill task...repair....play one map....

    At this point BF6 is completly broke since the last patch. Fix it pls.

    @Dice

    Since there is NO response to this VERY URGENT issue I assume there is no service available on your side. I stop playing your game now. 20 days and not even a response shows me u are not willing to provide any help.
