BF6 Hard freezes my laptop
BF6 keeps hard freezing my laptop after a few mins of loading it not just in game but in the menu as well, the screen gets stuck, nothing responds, and I can’t open Task Manager. Win + Ctrl + Shift + B doesn’t help either. The only way out is holding the power button to shut it down.
My specs:
- Lenovo LOQ 15IRX10 (83JE00JMTR)
- Intel Core i5-13450HX
- NVIDIA RTX 5060 Laptop GPU
- 16 GB RAM
- Windows 11
- BIOS: R3CN44WW
- NVIDIA driver: 617.42
Here’s what I’ve already tried, with no improvement:
- Lenovo Vantage hardware diagnostics—all tests passed.
- Updating the BIOS.
- Clean reinstalling the NVIDIA graphics driver.
- Verifying the game files.
- Lowering graphics settings.
- Disabling both EA and NVIDIA overlays.
- Switching from Hybrid/automatic GPU switching to NVIDIA GPU only.
i should also mentuon that BF1 multiplayer runs at ultra settings perfectly without this happening, but BF1’s single-player campaign causes the same hard freeze as BF6. bf4 occasionally hangs but Windows still responds and I can close it through Task Manager. I haven’t experienced this kind of complete lockup outside BF6 and BF1 campaign.
Windows Reliability Monitor recorded:
- Problem Event Name: LiveKernelEvent
- Code: 124
- Bucket starting with: LKD_0x124_7_GenuineIntel_CRASHLOG.PMC…
There are also EA Javelin Anticheat crash entries around some of the BF6 crashes. I don’t know whether those are related to the cause or just happen after the game crashes.
My Windows Minidump and LiveKernelReports folders are empty, including their subfolders. I’m attaching the Reliability Monitor screenshot, the System event log, and two BF6 crash dumps.
