Critical: Major VRAM memory leak/performance degradation after 1–3 matches

This seems to have been reported in the past but remains unadressed in the recent patch notes and the sections concerning future investigations.

This is very concerning as there is a clear problem experienced by many PC players which makes it so the game must be restarted (closed and started again)  after playing just a few matches as the performance degrades so significantly as to make the game almost unplayable.

What's observed:
1) Start the game and join a match. Then join another match.
Notice FPS count go down as much as 80 frames (120 -> 38). It feels unstable at it too.
2) Go to Settings - > Graphics
Notice that Video Memory is filled and over the limit of the graphics card
3) quit the game / close the application
4) start the game again, play a new match ->  notice the performance is optimal again

Reproducibility: 100% every play session

Screenshots attached: video memory at a start + after playing a match

Request: Can we please have the team look into this and acknowledge the issue?

  • Hey dude,

Same happened to me. i think i fixed it by uninstalling the HD packs.

in the game go to Settings / System / Install uninstall and uninstall all the HD packs.  This seemed to have worked.  hope EA team takes a look into this and finds a better fix

Do you not get any FPS drops after playing several matches in a row now?
    Will give that a shot.

    Massive improvement!

Appreciate you taking the time to comment, that trick genuinely made a difference.

I don't believe it actually fixes it, just slows it down. You'll probably still need to restart the game after a couple matches (at least that was my experience).

  • Yes, I am currently troubled by this issue, and I have reported it to EA, but they are ignoring me.

  • After I play 2-3 rounds of the game, the FPS drops from 80 to 30.

I have already set the graphics quality to the lowest, but this problem still occurs.

The game was upgraded to version 1.1.1.5, but this problem has not been resolved.

    My computer configuration is:

    CPU:5600

    GPU:VEGA64

    RAM:16G

    STEAM

At the same time, DX sometimes also reports errors.

Another fix bites the dust. Thanks for trying though.

    How did you report it?

If you can find the link to where you submitted this as an issue I will raise it as well.
