Short answer:
Yes, occasionally there can be brief pauses or micro-stutters.
Since increasing TdrDelay/TdrDdiDelay prevents Windows from resetting the GPU driver immediately, a short freeze can occur when the GPU briefly stalls and then recovers. This is essentially the same issue that previously caused a crash, just handled more gracefully.
It’s usually preferable to a DXGI crash, but it doesn’t fix the root cause!
Yes, this is what happened for me when I tried extending the TDR delays before I found the cause of my DXGI crashes. I found with extending the delays the crashes were less frequent but I had lots of stuttering and it still crashed when there was massive amounts of detail on the screen. I run at 4K ultra settings.
Once I located the source of my crashes (the GPU Hardware Scheduling being OFF causing the crashes) I removed the TDR delays from the registry, no crashes for over 6 months (I had the issue in BF2042 originally) with some sessions lasting over 8hrs.
