EA Anti-C(S)heat problem after latest update

Hi all,

I’ve been running into a major issue with Battlefield 6 on Steam and EA since the latest update. The game shows the splash screen, then a black window appears in the top-left corner of the screen (black screen only on Steam), and the game closes immediately. There’s no error message in-game.

After a lot of troubleshooting, this is what I think is the problem:

EA Anti-Cheat (EAAC)

  • Downloaded the latest EAAntiCheat.Installer.exe and placed it in:
     C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 6\EAAntiCheat
  • Tried installing and uninstalling multiple times
  • Verified game files through Steam several times
  • EAAC always creates a folder and service in:
    C:\Program Files\EA\AC
  • → This means the service does not point to my Steam installation, so the game cannot detect it

And for some reason it dosent work on EA app. (and yes Secure Boot, BIOS updated, fixed the potential Windows Security problem etc).  This above is the only thing thats wrong..

Any ideas how to make the Anti-Cheat app install in the correct place? AND WHY THE XX IS THIS HAPPENING?

I’ve put several hours into this — I think I’m losing my mind.

  • Guess what. I Have the same problem. Played last night the game. Today booted up PC launched the game. Won't open anymore. I tried everything and I have alos a thread here showing the problem. I tried now to install it on steam. Same problem. Game won't open.

  • hey guys - I had the same black window- crash to desktop issue. What now did the trick - while I tried the same before the last game update without no effect is:

reinstall your GPU drivers - especially when using a nvidia gpu. Try the following:

(1)unistall everything using the nvidia cleanup tool (here)

    (2) now reinstall the invidia app.

    (3) it will than ask you to install the latest driver - do not use the express install but use the other alternative (expert/manual selection - I do not remember). Now comes the trick:  in addition to select the drivers it offered a selection to also reset all the settings (you would think it does this in the uninstall process anyway ...) ticking this apparently did the magic.
