EA App stuck - "Installing 96%"

Having a lot of trouble trying to get battlefield to install - the download gets to 96%, errors with no details, then any attempt to continue goes around in a loop:

I've tried:

Clearing cache on the App

Deleting the EA App and re-installing

Running the App as admin

Updating all system drivers

Installing on different drives

How do I fix this?

Hey jonembury If the installation process stops, try the following steps.

    • Make sure that you have all windows updates installed
    • Check if the game folder is already created when the installation stops and see if you can launch VC installation from it C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 6\__Installer\vc\vc2022. Resume the installation process afterwards and see if it works.
    • Free up disk space on your installation drive.
    • Close Background Apps
Turn off overlays, browsers, and antivirus software that may interfere.
    • Run a clean boot and then start the installation.
    • Use Windows Troubleshooting Tools
Try the Program Install/Uninstall troubleshooter or the System File Checker (SFC) tool.
    • Make Another Windows Profile
Create a new user profile to rule out account-specific issues. Guide here.

Keep us updated on the progress.

    Heya - thanks for replying!

     * Windows update is clear:

    • VC update is installed:
    • Install drive has 1.09Tb free
    • I've killed all non-default background apps, other than EA service
    • Done the DISM / SFC checks
    • Troubleshooter found no problems

What I've subsequently also found is the EAAnticheat service is failing to start - returning Error 87: The parameter is incorrect:

Which in the event log shows:

I've uninstalled / re-installed it numerous times with no variation in behaviour

Is it possible this is related? How do I resolve it?

EA_Pulsar so there's hundreds of threads mentioning this same error going back years:

And it looks like generally, the thread gets ignored once this comes up. Is there some policy about not engaging with this problem in play?

Not sure if this is a related issue. Have you already tried the whole installation process for the EA app and the game on a new Windows account? What happens if you press the download button to continue, even a couple of times?

Could you also change the User Access Control (UAC) settings and see if you receive any error? Link

  • I've honestly lost count of the number of times I've uninstalled, re-installed the EA App over the last week. Similarly, I've retry'd the install and re-downloaded the game many times, I've also tried single play only, multiplayer only, and base game only

UAC reports no errors (when set to challenge).
