I don't see very much from the devs on the crashing issue. It would be pretty unfortunate if they don't address this in the near-term. It's the same exact issue for me, just crashing to desktop without an error message, usually from the first splash screen but sometimes after a few minutes of gameplay.
Try going into your windows settings, Go to windows updates, select Advanced options (It's under "more options"), select Optional updates, check whatever's there, and select download and install.
Let me know if this fixes it for you, I'm trying it now.
