My PC setup is as follows:
Windows 11, 64-bit
Intel Core i7-12700K
HP OMEN 45L Gaming Desktop GT22
32 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti
2 TB SSD
Problem:
Like many others have described, I had the same issue. After about five minutes in the single-player campaign mode, Battlefield 6 would simply close by itself. It restarted, but then I got a black screen. You could still hear the soldier shooting, but there was no image.
The multiplayer mode, however, worked without any issues.
What helped (at least for me and my PC setup)? What steps did I take?
- Updated the BIOS (it was outdated)
- Reset Windows 11 and reinstalled it from the Microsoft Cloud
- Used HP Support Assistant to update/check all drivers (including the graphics card)
- Deleted the “Steam” folder under Documents\Battlefield 6\settings\
- Re-downloaded and reinstalled Battlefield 6
- In the Windows settings under System → Display → Graphics, added the following three apps under “Add app”:
- Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 6\SP\bf6.exe
- Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 6\bf6.exe
- Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 6\EAAntiCheat.GameServiceLauncher.exe
- Set the GPU preference for all three apps to High performance
- Disabled both active system overlays in the Steam and Nvidia settings
- In the Steam Battlefield 6 menu, disabled the following DLCs:
- Battlefield 6 HD Textures
- Battlefield 6 Multiplayer & Singleplayer – Shared HD Textures
- Battlefield 6 Multiplayer HD Textures
- Battlefield 6 – Singleplayer HD Textures
These measures solved the issue for me, and I can now play Battlefield 6 in single-player mode without the black screen crash. It’s possible that not all of these steps were necessary, as I gathered them from various forums.
Maybe this will help someone out there.
