Instant Replay (or other recording softwares) does not work with BF6 sometimes.

I use Nvidia Instant Replay to record my highlights. But sometimes when I open up the game it pops a note saying "Battlefield 6 is preventing desktop capture, close the app or disable desktop capture and try again."

Not only Instant Replay having trouble recording the game, OBS sometimes fails to capture it too.

And sometimes restart the game solves the issue.

I googled it and found some old post having the same issue when playing Battlefield 6 open beta. It's understandable to use some DRM technology to prevent leaking when in beta. But since the game is officially out, this seems unnecessary.

Can we please fix this?

Game capture seems to be working fine with OBS, but the fact that instant replay isnt working is real frustrating!

  • If you're playing on PC. I had the same issue that BF6 wasn't letting me record anything.

I fixed the issue by uninstalling BF6 beta from my system. If you're sitting thinking, "I've already uninstalled it." Double check. I went into, Start > Settings > Apps > Installed Apps, find it under BF6 Beta or whatever name it has and uninstall it from there.

I also uninstalled the NVIDIA Control Panel and NVIDA app for good measure. Restarted my PC, reinstalled the NVIDIA software with the latest version straight from their website. Used the custom option and reinstalled it completely fresh, it removed all previous settings.

Restarted again. Loaded back into BF6 with the Instant Replay on and it worked. Bit of a ball ache but hey ho.

Maybe the same thing for Xbox, I don't know? Try uninstalling the Beta if you haven't already. Maybe remove all saved settings from the drive/cloud for it as well so there's no trace left.

Best of luck all. See you on the Battlefield.

IIt might sound dumb but for me the issue was caused by having my web browser open in the background. If you're on a PC, try going into the Windows 11 Graphics Settings and set your browser to use the Intel graphics you may need to add the browser manually. This only works if your CPU includes Intel graphics
