New update issue
Dear Battlefield Development Team,
I am writing to bring urgent attention to a severe vehicle balance issue introduced in Update 1.4.2.0 that has made transport helicopters virtually unplayable, particularly when facing the new two-seater jet mechanics and refined mouse controls.
The Issue: Countermeasure Economy Imbalance
The core problem is a mathematical and tactical mismatch between transport helicopter defenses and two-seater jet offensive capabilities:
Transport Helicopter Defenses: Capped at 1 flare charge on a standard, lengthy cooldown.
Two-Seater Jet Arsenal: Equipped with 4 air-to-air lock-on missiles and 2 independent flare charges (one for the pilot, one for the co-pilot/WSO).
In gameplay, a two-seater jet easily forces a transport helicopter to dump its single flare charge on the initial pass using just one or two missiles. The jet can safely disengage using its own double-flare setup, turn around, and fire its remaining missiles before the transport's countermeasures reset. Because transport helicopters are large, slow-moving targets, even high-level positioning cannot compensate for this window of absolute vulnerability.
Impact of Flight Assist and PC Precision
With the new flight assist mechanics easing flight controls and the inherent precision of mouse-and-keyboard aiming, jet pilots can lock onto and pressure transport helicopters with almost zero penalty or skill barrier. Transport helicopters have been reduced from viable spawn/gunship platforms to targets that cannot survive more than a minute in the air without multiple dedicated repair engineers stacked in passenger seats.
Suggested Solution
To restore fairness to air combat, please consider the following adjustments for transport helicopters:
- Grant a second flare charge stack to transport helicopters to match the offensive missile output of two-seater jets.
- Reduce countermeasure cooldown times specifically for transport-class helicopters to account for their lack of speed and maneuverability.
- Address shared flare cooldowns on multi-crew jets to prevent solo "seat-hopping" or stacking double flare usage back-to-back.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to balancing the game and listening to community feedback. I hope this input helps refine vehicle balance in the next patch.
