Packet loss / latency revisited

Good afternoon everyone.

Since the release, I've seen this and many other forums flooded with topics regarding packet loss and latency issues. Since I was facing this issue as well and, as many of you out there, I tried everything I found and could think of. Of course, nothing helped. Small-to-medium scale maps worked fine, so did the large-scale community servers. On official servers, Conquest, Breakthrough, and Escalation were completely and utterly unplayable for me, obviously.

My last resort was updating my BIOS and chipset just so I clear my checklist of potential causes. As I was looking up my motherboard's firmware version, I noticed that my RAM sticks were listed under slots 1 and 2. Since I'm using two 16 GB DIMM modules, DIMM slots matter. I swapped them out and put them into slots 2 and 4, booted up the system and voila, packet loss was gone.

I'm not saying this is THE solution, far from it. All I'm saying is that perhaps have a look at your BIOS setup and if there is anything hardware-wise that might need some checking and tweaking. Using a XMP profile over anything that's set to Auto might help, too.

Anyway, I hope this helps some of you out there if you're facing this annoying issues.

See you all on the battlefield.
