random crash to desktop

7800x3d  and 5070 12gb,  ddr5 5200hz.  everything stock and ram with epos.  1 tb m.2

at first I had an issue where I was getting random microstutters from I believe low mp/s going into the red when DLSS is on.  I have to toggle the option on and off or restart the game for it seems to register properly and stay in the green on the perf overlay.     But now my issue I get random crashes to desktop when dlss is on.  I think its only certain maps I'm not sure.  Sometimes I can go a whole round no issue,  sometimes I just a get a crash to desktop with no explanation not even in event viewer,  or once I got a frozen black screen and had to manually close the game.

I tried using ddu to uninstall my graphics drivers.  Made sure my bios, chipset,  realtek, motherboard drivers all up to date.   I completely unisntalled the game and deleted the bf6 folder in documents and reinstall.    I don't believe I get the issue if Just let the game use auto balanced settings.  as opposed to say letting nvidia optimize the game,  or manually turn on dlss.   But I will do more testing to be sure.

  • So I think the fix for me is rate limiting the frames in the settings.  I put to the ultra preset.   Put DLSS on.  At first I tried to set dlss to quality,  which brings my mp/s into the green.  And then I put texture filtering to ultra instead of overkill.  But I would still get a random crash.   So now I rate limited to my lowest fps which is around 100 fps.   and so far no crashes.  Maybe there is an issue with gsync or frames causing crazy spikes to the gpu or cpu.    no idea but it seems to be only when dlss is on.  doesn't happen with fsr or anti aliasing.  Maybe an nvidia update will fix the issue with bf6.

But I also have not had a good match.  I usually only crash if my name is near the top of the leaderboard.  So it could be something malicious or something to do with ea.    Because I joined a server and out the gate I was playing great and said to myself.  Oh boy I'm playing too good I'm about to crash to desktop.   i was like 8-0 top of scorebord beginning of match and sure enough Boom,  I got bounced to desktop minutes later.    Then I couldn't log into ea game servers and was getting a mysterious error.   And was able to log back in an hour later after contacting ea customer support.  and I haven't crashed since.   So  I wouldn't be surprised.

I'm probably being paranoid and its not malicious,  and it could just be the cpu or gpu ramping up at those times cause of ea's anti cheat monitoring me as it should.  And i'm right at the limit of my system especially with the gpu maxxed out.   very similar to when loading a map at the beginning,  or when nearing the round end back in the older versions of the game.

So crossing my fingers the frame limiting is the solution..  I tried everything else.  disabling all overlays.  Actually  I had to put the ea overlay back and log back out and in and verify my email to connect back into the game.  So strange.  I did just buy a a whole new pc though which might look suspicious.  Its like we a turning a new page in history.  lets make pc's great again lol.
