Season 3 Update Feedback: Major improvements in download stability and speed

I wanted to share some positive feedback regarding the rollout of the BF6 Season 3 (v1.3.1.0) update. As a player who has previously experienced 12-hour download times, the improvements this time around were remarkable.

Technical Performance Observations:

I monitored the download workflow closely and noticed a significant leap in stability:

Server/CDN: The process on server 104.18.9.118 (Akamai Technologies) was flawless.

Stability: No slowdowns, interruptions, or mid-process server hand-off issues.

Efficiency: The update started at 9:30 PM (JST) and finished by 12:50 AM.

Total Time: Just over 3 hours, compared to the ~12 hours I’ve experienced with previous patches.

A Note of Appreciation:

Seeing this level of optimization gives me a lot of confidence in the gameplay experience for Season 3. I’ve gone through the patch notes, and the sheer volume of fixes and new content is staggering.

To the engineers at EA and the team at Akamai: thank you for the hard work on the backend that often goes unnoticed. Your passion for the game shows not just in the content, but in the effort you put into making sure we can actually get into the game faster.

The enjoyment we get out of BF6 is built on these continuous efforts. Thank you for everything you do, and I’m looking forward to jumping into Season 3!

Best regards,

  • [UPDATE] Unexpected Issues and Technical Observations

Unfortunately, things took an unexpected turn and didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped. After playing one match on the "Railway to Golmud" map, I encountered several issues.

    Observed Issues:

Stuttering: Significant screen stuttering during gameplay.

Movement Anomalies: Despite holding the 'W' key to move forward, my soldier would move backward or drift sideways unexpectedly.

Silent Crash: The game eventually crashed without an explicit BF6 error message. I checked the Windows 10 Home ESU "Windows Logs" (Application, Security, and System), but no errors were recorded there either.

    Steps Taken for Resolution:
To address this, I cleared the application cache and restarted the BF6 Season 3 application. I immediately ran the Repair process. Additionally, as a precautionary measure (though perhaps unrelated), I executed the following via Command Prompt:

    ・ netsh http delete cache
    ・ netsh http flush logbuffer
・ netsh int ip del destinationcache
    ・ del c:\Windows\prefetch\*.*/s/q

The Repair process seems to have been effective. Upon launching the game via the EA Launcher afterward, a new session was generated. I then played "Casual Breakthrough," and the two aforementioned issues did not recur. However, I will need to monitor the situation for another 2–3 days to confirm if it is fully resolved.

Note on Windows Update (ESU) Anomalies:

In another unexpected development, I attempted to run Windows Update around 9:00 AM on May 13th (JST). While the monthly Microsoft Defender Antivirus (KB2267602) and Antimalware Platform (KB4052623) updates installed automatically, the May 2026 update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 ESU (KB5087544) did not appear on the Windows Update panel.

Even after manually clicking "Check for updates," it incorrectly displayed "You're up to date." I have noticed similar incidents in the past where security updates were not delivered automatically via Akamai Technologies servers. Given that past update inconsistencies have occasionally caused boot failures for users with similar Intel/AMD desktop environments, I am proceeding with caution. I attempted a manual standalone download, but since the file size differed from the published specifications, I have opted not to install it for risk management reasons.

I will be observing both the game stability and the OS update status over the coming week.

    Hi EA_Shepard,

Thanks for the wonderful reply! Your description of getting lost in a game and hitting that "happy place" perfectly captures why I keep coming back.

To answer your questions about the score display: I’ve actually never played REDSEC. I mostly notice the fluctuations on the scoreboard when it shows something like "K 38 D 6 A 25" for my squad—resulted in 27. The kill count displays correctly only about 30% of the time—though I must say, the accuracy has definitely improved since Season 2! Sometimes it throws me a curveball by showing my multi-kill streak or tank kills instead, which I assume might be by design.

As for what keeps me so immersed... well, I have a little confession to make. My gaming world revolves 99% around Casual Breakthrough! I absolutely adore the "Railway to Golmud" map, but let’s be honest—it’s a brutal warzone where getting a single kill feels like climbing Mt. Everest. Since I prefer my gaming hours to be stress-free (and filled with actual kills!), I happily hide away in Casual Breakthrough.

If you ever look at the leaderboards and see someone at the absolute bottom of the losing team, that’s probably me! I like to blame my "senior gamer tax"—my reaction time and dynamic visual acuity aren't quite what they used to be, and unfortunately, there’s no patch update for human aging!

However, I’ve tried to brute-force a solution with hardware. Upgrading to a mechanical keyboard (RealForce PFU Limited) and a gaming mouse (Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro—a bit big for my hands, but it does the trick) has definitely helped me put up a good fight.

Thanks again for making this such a welcoming community. I’m just happy to share my love for the game and let you know how Season 3 is feeling on my end. I’ll let you get back to managing the forums, but I’ll see you on the battlefield (from the bottom of the scoreboard)!

    Best regards,

PerkyflyNCE That line definitely fits with how I try to look at these threads. Sometimes we focus on the tiny details that we miss the point of what someone is saying. Your comment about knowing what is normal first is honestly a smart way to approach PC issues, especially given how easy it is for a single settings change or network tweak to throw everything sideways and make it look like the game is the problem. It also helps to hear that most of what you’re seeing is still pretty minor on your end, with the kill score display being more of an occasional annoyance than something that’s really disrupting the match flow.

I also liked what you said about BF6 being immersive enough to make you lose track of time. That kind of feedback matters just as much as the bug reports do, because it says something about what the game is getting right when it clicks. If you lose track of time in a game, it's doing something right. You have then immersed yourself so much into something that all of time and space become irrelevant, and you are in your happy place.

The best games don’t just entertain you. They give you a place where time, stress, and reality quietly disappear.

On the score display side, when you do notice it fluctuates, does it usually happen more in REDSEC, standard Multiplayer, or does it seem random across modes? And with the immersion side of it, is there a specific part of the game that’s really doing that for you most right now, like the map atmosphere, vehicle play, sound design, or just the overall pace of a match?

    Hi EA_Shepard,

I like your “You see the forest through each tree — seeing the bigger picture in the smallest details.”

To be honest, I rarely experience any glitches caused directly by the EA app or the Battlefield 6 application itself. While the issue with the kill score display occasionally fluctuating persists, it’s well within my tolerance level, and there are no other visible problems. Whenever I’ve run into issues by tweaking my PC network settings out of pure curiosity, or by pushing the BF6 application settings beyond my own capabilities, I was naturally able to resolve them easily.

Since the PC-related incidents I’ve encountered are quite specific to my own environment, they might not be the most useful reference for others. The ultimate root of how I’ve managed to solve such a wide variety of past incidents comes down to a single book. It’s inspired by the spirit of "Know what is normal" from Takedown (released as Track Down in Hollywood), a book based on the true story of how Tsutomu Shimomura—a physicist and computer security expert who was also at Los Alamos National Laboratory—helped the FBI capture Kevin Mitnick. Since then, "Something is different" has become my daily mantra. I also like his words, "We call things we don't understand complex, but that means we haven't found a good way of thinking about them."

I used to be completely indifferent to gaming, but with BF6, any stress from playing is instantly wiped away by the sheer immersion. In fact, I get so caught up in the fun that I often forget to go to bed at night!

PerkyflyNCE This is the type of information that is greatly helpful in more ways than one.

The one thing I do love about this is that you listed "observation" first. Most of my summaries to the dev teams start out that way, since that is kind of a standard for me in sending reports. I like details. The more the better.

Agreed, I'm having the same issue. Played twice deffending the Train map. And its just annoyig. Helli + tanks on the attack side is being overpower. I tried to smash with rockets like I always did os S2. Nope impossible.

And I played a lot with tanks on S2, for me the light tank with the seccond weapon with the two fast rockets always won against the heavy tank. Now I try to run and avoid the canon, fight as hell and always lose to the heavy tank.

The Season 3 Update has ruined the game's integrity in its entirety! You might as well call any large scale battle "BF6 Tanks" with the recent buff to all ground vehicles. No inventory from 1 player's rpg or various rockets will destroy a vehicle (giving any tank player the largest advantage yet). The only way to combat this is with c4 which is challenging enough. The ground to vehicle balance is so off it doesn't even make any sense. You might as well play hardcore and pray that you can take out a tank with one full inventory of explosives. Because of this - I know countless PLAYERS and STREAMERS who quit playing for the future. Let's also recognize that many players on BR REDSEC are getting more light glare than ever before, creating more unbalance to the game. I would suggest now more than ever to focus on changing these ASAP before more word gets out! TRUST ME!

[UPDATE 2 - 13 May 2026, 17:00 JST]  The Critical Conflict: KB5087544 and Akamai CDN Loops
Since my last update, I decided to proceed with a standalone installation of the May update (KB5087544) to see if it would resolve the underlying inconsistencies.

    The "96% Loop" Incident
The installation reached the familiar screen:

"Configuring update... 96% complete. Do not turn off your computer."

Then, progress simply died. For over 15 minutes, the system remained frozen at 96%. Monitoring the traffic revealed that the Akamai Technologies CDN server failed to complete the handshake, leaving the installation stuck in an infinite loop.

To be honest, I wasn't surprised. This was the exact "incident" I had anticipated.

The "Sixth Sense" for System Failure
While I haven't seen other users reporting this specific case yet, I’ve often felt a "premonition" before these issues occur. In the past, whenever I've sensed these anomalies and taken evasive action, I’ve subsequently seen a wave of reports from users with similar environments suffering from BSoDs, total freezes, and boot failures.

It is a frustrating trend. Back when Microsoft managed their own update servers, these "CDN handshake loops" were unheard of. Since the transition to Akamai Technologies, I have personally documented over 10 instances of this exact failure pattern.

Current Status: A Tale of Two SSDs
Despite the OS-level instability caused by the Windows Update service, my gaming environment remains perfectly stable:

Battlefield 6 (v1.3.1.0 'Season 3'): Running flawlessly with zero performance issues.

    System Architecture:

Primary NVMe SSD: Hosts the Windows 10 OS, Kernel, and EA Launcher.

Secondary NVMe SSD: Dedicated solely to the BF6 application.

This separation of concerns seems to be protecting the game's integrity even when the OS update infrastructure is failing. I have already restored my system to a healthy state using my own methods, but the reliability of these third-party CDNs for critical OS delivery remains a major concern for the community.
