Sim Frame Lag Issue

While playing Battlefield 6, the game runs smoothly without any lag at first. However, after playing for about 10 minutes, the Sim framerate among the three metrics (CPU / Sim / GPU) in the performance overlay starts to fluctuate, and I begin to notice lag. Eventually, the Sim framerate hovers around 45 FPS, and the game starts to drag as if in-game time has slowed down, leading to unbearable lag.

The other two framerates stay roughly around 70 (CPU) and 80 (GPU) initially, but once the Sim framerate starts to drop, the GPU framerate suddenly jumps to 110 FPS while the CPU framerate drops to 60 FPS. The fact that this gap widens is one of the peculiarities I noticed.

I don't experience server lag on community servers running at 30Hz, where the Sim framerate stays fixed at 30 FPS, so I don't understand why this phenomenon only happens on official servers.

saneaven thanks for posting the HWiNFO screenshot. The reason SIM is 30fps on Community servers and 60fps on Official servers is due to different network tick rates.

It sounds like the CPU starts to overheat after 10mins. You can verify this using HWiNFO to graph CPU temperature and frequency speed. Double click on whatever you want to graph in HWiNFO.

Check if CPU frequency goes down as CPU temperature goes up. 100°C is usually max temp for CPU before thermal throttling occurs.

Unfortunately, I don't think that's the case. Although the clock speeds do drop after the game starts, they remain stable at that lower level. The drop in Sim framerate happens much later than that. Also, I discovered something interesting while testing; there are instances where the Sim framerate remains at 60 FPS even when the CPU framerate is running at 50 FPS.

saneaven the only other thing I can think to try is disabling all the E-cores in motherboard BIOS, so the game is only running on P-cores.
