So I have no idea if any of this helps but I believe it to be an EA account issue. I was getting this error a few weeks ago on Steam, read about people saying it was an account issue so I made my EA name match my steam name and it worked for a few weeks, all of a sudden it stopped working again. Yesterday when redsec came out I was able to play again, played for an hour with no issues, logged back in that night and was now getting the same error again. Being that you can now download the game for free on the EA app I figured I'd see what happened if I launched it through the EA app, if I used the EA app it was telling my something about my account being restricted from accessing online features and no, I haven't been banned. For the hell of it I have the Nvidia Geforce Now service that I use on my laptop from time to time so I tried to launch BF from my laptop through that and got the same 'unknown' error through a cloud gaming service running my steam account. I really don't think that it's anything GPU related I only believe it's something to do with EA account issues.
One odd thing I also noticed is that according to steam I still have an active EA Play subscription (didn't even know it was active) but my EA account says my subscription expired. Not sure if it means anything but I'm trying to find anything I can to help fix this
It's possible this is account related as others have mentioned in this thread. Mainly, having multiple EA IDs on the same account. For that, you'll want to open a case with an advisor to see if they can assist. You should only have one EA ID per account. Cases can be opened by hitting the 'Contact Us' button at the bottom of this page.
