Steam Overlay mandatory?

Why is this suddenly a thing? I cant start the game anymore despite clocking in at 1.230 hours in the game without it! And YES I DEACTIVE THE STEAM OVERLAY ON EVERY GAME EVERYTIME!

Yet suddenly I cant start the game anymore? What is wrong with you?

EDIT: Oh, and after activating this crap I dont ever need, I suddenly have to 2FA my account and can only login to the game after i put in a code you send me to my E-Mail? Do I have to do this now everytime I try to login to the game?

Forcing the overlay seems kind of silly, I wonder what that's supposed to help.

Having to confirm your identity when logging in though is usually related to an IP change that tripped something on their end. ISPs change your IP at their whim, and sometimes it's enough that things like this happen. With Starlink it happens to me nearly once a month, so I've gotten used to it.

It's far better than the other option that they just ignore my IP suddenly changing to the CN region after my account is stolen by a hacker.
