This was not an issue until last night, no update or anything. Suddenly my game was in a much lower resolution and aspect ratio, just a very small window on my screen, and now I cant fullscreen or use alt+enter to fullscreen that way. Alt+enter just doesnt work and spikes my cpu for a few seconds, and actually setting the game to fullscreen or borderless and pressing apply crashes the game and does not fix anything

I can confirm this works for me! at first i thought you meant the Nvidia app itself so i installed the Driver with the Nvidia app but the setting for automatic display switching is actually in the Nvidia Control Panel when i went to the program settings bf6 was using the global setting which was already set to off. I used "off" instead of "global setting" and i uninstalled the nvidia app and restarted now it works as normal im on the latest GPU drivers and im able to go full screen and see my resolution settings without crashing.
problem solved...uninstalled! It's so sad that only BF6 has this problem! 80 euros wasted
Try the solution above it worked for me. open nvidia control panel-manage 3d settings-program settings tab-drop down menu look for bf6-set automatic display switching to off.
I have installed BF6 again and it doesn't work. Same problem, impossible to play the game in full screen. No resolutions appear in the settings:

When i installed the game the first time, it worked. The problem started from the installation of driver nvidia 581.57 (clean installation with DDU, like every times). Every games work well...except BF6.
