Unable to link my Steam account (it’s linked to an old deleted Hotmail account)
Hi folks! I’m trying to link my Steam account to my EA account, but I’m getting the following error message:
“Your accounts can’t be linked because your Steam account XXXX already linked to your EA Account for *******@hotmail.com. An EA Account can only be linked to one Steam account in its lifetime.”
The problem is that the Hotmail account no longer exists, I closed that email account a long time ago and I no longer have access to it, so I cannot receive the verification codes required to log into that EA account.
Because of this, I’m unable to unlink the Steam account or link it to my current EA account.
Could someone from support please help me remove the old EA account link or transfer the link to my current EA account?
Thanks
Hey C-CrossBones,
It looks like your Steam account is already linked to an EA account, and you can't access the linked EA account anymore.
You can't link a new EA account to Steam in this circumstance; as per the error message you get, explained this guide to unlink your EA and platform accounts.
The article also covers the risks of unlinking and relinking your platform accounts, which I recommend you look up.
In the meantime, some providers let you recover or reactivate your email account by:
- resetting your password
- answering security questions
- verifying your identity or alternative email address associated with that account.
Look for these options on the sign-in page of your email service provider’s website, or visit their support site for more help.
If you can't recover access to the email address at all, please gather the information below and check in with the support team directly following this guide.
- the original email address on your EA Account
- any usernames that are linked to your EA Account, like your EA ID, Xbox Live Gamertag, or PlayStation™Network Online ID
- any invoice numbers from games you’ve bought through an EA platform, like the EA app.
You can find the Contact Us button at the very bottom of the guide to contact the Customer Support team.
Our advisors will do their best to help you recover the EA account.
