EA, Stop Ignoring Us: Xbox Accounts Stuck on Unrecoverable EA Profiles
This is a collective appeal on behalf of the many users who have, over the years, experienced the same recurring issue – and still have no solution. The problem is simple but severe: Players lose access to their EA account, and as a result, they are unable to unlink it from their Xbox profile. Without EA's help, they are permanently locked out of using EA services on Xbox. And EA Support has failed to provide effective assistance. We are not talking about isolated incidents. This is a widespread and years-old problem, affecting hundreds (if not thousands) of players. It continues to appear regularly in EA Forums, Reddit, Microsoft support threads, and gaming communities. It’s time to acknowledge that this is not a user mistake – this is a systemic failure in account management and support policy. The Problem Xbox profiles often become automatically linked to old EA accounts – sometimes accounts that are no longer accessible, deleted, or tied to an email that no longer exists. Players cannot unlink the Xbox profile from the EA account unless they verify the original EA account. If the user has no access to the email or recovery methods (due to age, lost credentials, or deactivated accounts), EA support refuses to help. Microsoft confirms they cannot unlink EA accounts on their end. EA's stance is rigid: “No verification, no unlinking.” Even if the account is clearly inactive or the user is verified through Xbox/Origin credentials. Support tickets are often closed without action. Chats end with no resolution. Users are passed between departments, but nothing changes. Recent Example (May 2025) Just yesterday, I posted the following here on EA’s forums, and it summarizes the problem: “I can't unlink my Xbox account from an old EA account that I don't have access to anymore. EA Support told me there’s nothing they can do. I just want to play EA games again, but I’m locked out of all online services because my Xbox is linked to a ghost account.” Full Post Here This is not a one-off. It is one of many. What Players Are Asking For We are not asking for special treatment. We are asking for a realistic, user-focused solution to a well-known issue. Specifically: A process for unlinking Xbox accounts when the original EA account cannot be recovered. This could involve verifying identity via Xbox Live data, Xbox account ownership, or linking proof. Better support escalation paths. Not just canned responses and auto-closed tickets. Real human review for unresolved account access cases. Transparency on what can and cannot be done. Many users are told “there’s nothing we can do” – while others manage to get unlinking done after dozens of failed attempts. The policy is inconsistent. The Bigger Picture Many affected users have: Lost access to EA Play/Game Pass benefits despite paying for them. Abandoned EA games completely because the account issues make playing impossible. Created entirely new Xbox accounts, losing years of progress and purchases. Spent hours or days dealing with EA support without a single result. We are asking EA to take responsibility and implement system-level fixes. This is a trust issue. Players who lose access to their EA account should not be cut off from Xbox games they legally own or subscribe to. Supporting Evidence: Community Reports Date Source & Link Summary May 16, 2025 EA Forum User unable to unlink Xbox from old EA account; EA Support states "nothing we can do". April 2025 Microsoft Community Xbox Gamertag linked to an old/unknown EA account; EA will not unlink it, stating the account is deleted. April 2022 Microsoft Community EA refuses to unlink Xbox from deleted EA account; GDPR request ignored. February 2021 Reddit - r/Xbox EA demands code sent to inactive email; user locked out despite valid Xbox account. Early 2021 Microsoft Community User unable to unlink EA account; Microsoft confirms EA is sole authority. November 2018 Overclockers UK Forum Player locked to 10-year-old EA account; EA support unhelpful after multiple attempts. And many more... Final Call EA, this is a growing trust and accessibility issue. Gamers should not be permanently blocked from their Xbox content because of a policy that assumes email access is forever. Technology evolves. People change accounts. But support systems must evolve with that. We urge you to: Recognize this as a longstanding issue. Commit to a workable solution for affected users. Respond to the community with clarity and action. This isn’t just about one player. This is about hundreds of us, waiting for a fair resolution. EA - in the name of all gamers - please fix this! I bought Split Fiction to play with my best friend. Game said I had to make an EA account. I started the process and attempted to link my PSN. It said I couldn’t because there was already a linked EA account under my gamer tag. EA says I’ve been a member since 2025, and the email that comes up under my gamer tag is not an email I’ve ever seen or know about. I don’t think I’ve ever had an EA account or linked it to my PSN, and now I can’t play my game online without it. What do I do? Nothing on the EA page is working.Solved31Views0likes1CommentCannot create a new case

My email account was hacked recently. I’m a PlayStation gamer and whenever I start an EA game, I get a message saying that, since it’s been a while, a verification code has been sent to my email (the hacked one) which I no longer have access to. I contacted EA and the only way to recover the email and use the new one is to verify that the account is mine - however - I keep failing the verification for some reason. The details I give don’t match up - I’m assuming the hack may have caused my details to change - and they refuse to help me further. There’s no other way of recovering my old email and using the new one. I’ve also found out that only one email can be linked to my PSN account - EVER! I’m at a complete loss here. What should I do? EA have basically told me that, unless I pass the verification to recover the old email and delete it, I can basically never play EA games again!45Views0likes2Commentsmy verification codes will not send at all
so originally i was trying to link my psn acc to my ea account and it said it would send a code but never did and i tried so many times but it never worked. the next day (now) im trying to again and it still isnt sending. even when i try resetting the email to a different one, adding a phone number, or try to change the password, no code will send to my email. im really sure the email is correct and my storage isnt full or anything. ive also tried looking in spam and promotions but still nothing. i have also tried getting help at the ea page but it literally just takes me to where i tried resetting my email. idk what to do atpSolved36Views0likes3CommentsNo access to old Email address.
Good day, I 'm on the verge of loosing all hope with EA. I lost access to my previous account when my old IP provider (Tiscali.co.uk) closed. And while it remained live for a while, it was eventually deleted, meaning my old 'Tiscali' email address is now no longer valid or accessible in any way, and there is NO previous IP Provider whom i could contact for assistance (as your repetitive "Advice" repeats over and over again 😡) Honestly, who even thought that would be an acceptable response? 😶 I did manage to gain access to the account a while back, and at that time I managed to link it to my Xbox "Gamepass" account which is tied to my 'NEW' Gmail Address (big mistake) I then tried to change the now obsolete 'Tiscali' email address to my current 'Gmail' one, every time I have tried to do this, I have been unsuccessful as your system just tells me to provide a code which has been sent to my old email address to which I no longer have access, these days I only seam to be allowed to access the forum with my old account.☹️ When i try to select the option for "No longer have access to email address" your system just tells me to contact my old email provider....you know, the ones who no longer exist!!!... do you see my issue?... I'm going round in circles, and have done for a few years now with no resolution. At least previously i was able to at least log into my account by selecting my 'Xbox account' at login.... now you have introduced your ridiculously excessive 2-point authentication, it just tells me that a code has been sent to the old email address which no longer exists.....I think I've accepted that my old EA library has gone now, and so I created a new account but need help from a REAL person, to either regain access to my old account, delete my old account (and just use my new account going forward) or to delete my "Gamepass" link from the old account so I can re-link it to this account.... until then I am unable to play EA games from Gamepass or my library as both are inaccessible. help!
