Battlefield 1 Error

Hi there.

I tried to launch Battlefield 1 from my PC, but an error has occurred, barring me from playing the game.

A window has opened with the following text:

We're sorry, an error has occurred

Invalid license. Reason code = Missing DLL: [urlmon.dll] Error 0x5AA.

PLEASE, help me fix this issue so I can go back to playing Battlefield 1.

Thanks!

    Just tried that now.

Unfortunately the results still give me the 0x5AA error.

My PC is about seven years old now with a hard disk drive, so the problem might be unfixable. Although if you have any more advice, I'd be happy to try them.

    Is urlmon.dll in folder C:\Windows\System32\urlmon.dll ?

If it isn't there do you have another computer running the same Windows version? If so you can try copying urlmon.dll from the working computer to the broken computer C:\Windows\System32\urlmon.dll <-64bit version

    There's also a urlmon.dll in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\urlmon.dll <-32bit version

I don't recommend downloading urlmon.dll from untrusted sites on the internet.

Good news is that there is a urlmon.dll in both System32 and SysWOW64. Bad news is that I don't have another PC. Any other alternative methods I can do it remedy my urlmon.dll situation?

That's good urlmon.dll is in both system folders. I would try to register them both again.

    • open command prompt as administrator then copy (ctrl + c) and paste (ctrl + v) in these two commands. One at a time.
    •
    • C:\Windows\System32\regsvr32.exe "C:\Windows\System32\urlmon.dll"
    •
    • C:\Windows\SysWOW64\regsvr32.exe "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\urlmon.dll"
    •
    • Reboot PC

Does the regsvr32 commands come back as successful?

To run the Command Prompt as administrator, create a shortcut icon of the Command Prompt on your Desktop. Then right click on the shortcut to 'run as administrator'.

I used both commands, then rebooted my PC. But I still received the same error message. They both said they succeeded, but I still get the same error message when booting up BF1.

We gave it a good try. Unfortunately I don't know why urlmon.dll is missing. It's in the correct folder and registered.

Hopefully someone will share some ideas on why urlmon.dll is missing.

Is there a way I can speak to a person from EA directly? I'm new to the forums here and don't know how.
