Well, this is an online game and you should expect large patch(es) size. You are forced to update the game.
If your Internet Connection is that slow then go to your friend and download it through there.
1. Download the patch from somewhere else.
2. Copy the game data from there to your PC. (You can use a USB Flash drive or a portable HDD)
3. Now, you have to go C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3 (Your PC)
4. Paste the game data to the folder above.
5. Press repair game in Origin.
6. Done.
