The project has nothing to do with EA, overall the legality is questionable ROBERTCPP.

What about the project that brings it back online for the PS3? Must mean it's not entirely impossible to not to be played.

Hello. To answer your question straight: No, there is unfortunately no way to get the Battlefield 3 Console Multiplayer servers back on current-gen Xbox (Series X/S) or PlayStation. While the Xbox back-compat infrastructure successfully emulates and runs the Xbox 360 game itself, the multiplayer master servers are controlled entirely by EA, not Microsoft or Sony. EA officially shut down and dismantled all console servers for BF3 globally (both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) on November 7, 2024. Because the physical server infrastructure no longer exists, the console multiplayer is permanently gone. Only the PC version (via Steam/EA App) remains active and playable today.
