Battlefield 3 not launching 2020

The issue seems to be with the windows 10 2004 update. The game ran absolutely fine before it and reverting to earlier windows versions allows a brief period of the game working again before windows auto updates. Has been corroborated with other users on steam experiencing the same issue. Doubt there will be a fix from this end so I guess we have to hope that a future windows update un-breaks it or all steam users will be unable to play the game permanently now.
