Battlefield 3 PC doesn't launch

I've been trying to start BF3 again and it doesn't even launch to the main menu.  I've done anything and everything to fix punkbuster, but launching bf3 through the EA app does not launch at all. ...

Nothing from that or any other PunkBuster fixed the issue. 

I found out that apparently you can't launch the game from EA app at all, and have to still run a multiplayer server through the old battle log site, then the game launches into the multiplayer game.
Did I get a virus from that old site? Probably, but worth it.
