battlefield 3 will not start

Hey, I just bought BF3 and I trued to launch the game after installing and it gave me a direct x failed to create or find I do not know which

d3d fileplease update your direct x to 10 or later.

I downloaded 10 and it still did not work my graphics card is a nvidia 9800 GTX I have a core 2 duo processor 3.00 ghz

I want to thank you all for your assistance.
I have gotten the game to work. I contacted my very techy older brother and he replied simply
go to nvidia.com and download a 9800gtx driver update. I did and the game works fine thank you for your fast responses though

Hi,

did you install 10 or 10.1? If I remember correctly AMD needs 10 and NVIDIA+Intel need 10.1

I installed 10, if I need 10.1 please give me a link to it

My dxdiag says I have direct x 11, but my graphics card cannot support dx11.
Please help otherwise I wasted My money

I checked again and it was the other way around. It was 10 you needed.

You could try to force the game for run 10 mentioned here:

I was not even aware of a seperate driver update for the gpu. Thanks for posting

I am not sure if it is only for the 9800 gtx
but it worked.
