To be fair all classes having an anti-vehicle gadget seems a pretty sensible idea. If you're playing Medic in BFV, for example, you don't really have any gadgets like this (unless you're using the M28 of course).

@ElliotLH if that occurs then the entire paper\rock\scissors balancing goes out the window. I'd rather have an engineer class again and make people make choices on do I take out that BTR or do I revive my teammate, or do I give them ammo. Also if everyone has an anti-vehicle gadget then vehicles are either destroyed in short order or they have to be absolute monsters to compensate which I don't think many players would like.
One exception is an anti-vehicle gadget that works with engineer such as the laser designator. On its own it can only harass a vehicle but do no damage, but in tandem with an engineer it's a game changer.

@ragnarok013 That's a valid point and I do admittedly sometimes not think enough about balance. I just feel so ham-strung playing as medic on vehicle maps in BFV I guess. At least in BF1 I could chuck a light AT grenade at them as I ran away or before I got splatted.
- 5 years ago@ElliotLH I like using the AT mines grenades in BFV with Medic. The light AT grenade in BF1 seemed a little under done.

Balance is frequently in my thoughts when I hear changes to systems, classes etc because I remember the pretty good balance we had until the class structure was thrown out when BF1 launched and "Action Man" was born. I'm still not sure why anyone thought it wise to give the best rifles and AT assets to the same class.

that's when you switch to an AT class tho.
Also not like Assault in BFV was a great anti-tank class if the enemy tankers were experienced. If you don't top off in BFV then you get 2 rockets. And half of the time in my experience those rockets would do a few pts of damage each.
