Battlefield Hardline - Lower the threshold for starting a round to 1–2 players

Hello, the game has a small online population, and the threshold of 4 players across different time zones is a major problem for gathering players on servers in general. To start playing, you literally have to join a server, minimize the game, and wait for the server to fill up.

I understand that when the game first launched and was at its peak more than 10 years ago, this measure was necessary, but now, when the game is in decline, this restrictive measure simply limits and ruins the game.

Sometimes it’s hard to find 4 players; for example, there are 2 friends who can play together and achieve some goals, or people have gotten together and want to help each other. The game still has these limitations — like a huge amount of grinding to get achievements — and the online population isn’t growing.

You can reduce the requirements for achievements and change the start of rounds.

And yes, if you’re secretly planning to quit the game, you’ll need to complete all the achievements beforehand.

That’s right, the servers are rented officially from EA — there are 0 servers in this game. On these servers, there’s a setting in the config: vars.roundStartPlayerCount 1, and the value 1=4 can’t be changed. There’s a loophole with vars.roundRestartPlayerCount, but I still can’t verify it — finding 4 players during the day is a real nightmare. EA has put this in the server code for a long time and can change it on their server build, which they have full access to, and not just hosts that they host at their facilities and rent out, they can't globally change something in it, but we tenants have neutered settings.

So theoretically they can do it, but practically I don't think they will do it. With an unfortunate achievement, the issue cannot be resolved (

  • Battlefield Hardline servers are run and operated by the community. EA has nothing to do with the servers on PC. The minimum players needed to start a game I believe can be changed by the server owners, this was possible in Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4.
