BF 3 has never worked since the start

Are you using any kind of gaming device like a gaming mouse, keyboard or speedpad? That issue sounds more like an hardware or software issue with your input device. Could you provide us some information about your hardware, it would help us to investigate your issue.

Gigabyte Omnium mech KB(,was a Logi G19),Logi G700 mouse,Logi Extreme Pro Joystick.All Drivers up to date.No issues with any other games,mainly MMO'sGW2,WoW,Trackmania etc.

3rd party tools and softwares can result in game instability. Unplug devices like joystick,headphones and try again.

Been there & done that.The 3rd party Tools & software excusedoesn't wash.They work on every other game I have & as I said it still doesn't work on the new Rig. Personally i reckon a complete removal from "My games" and a fresh download with a new licence number may, not guarenteed, work?

new licence key wont make any difference at all

just because software/hardware doesnt cause an issue with some games doesnt mean it won't cause an issue with another

you are also running on windows 8

while some people (myself included) have no problems at all with win8 and bf3

others cant get it to run at all

thats not a fault of ea, the game was written before win8 was released and it doesn't state anywhere that it does work on win 8 either

You keep mentioning joystick OP, are you using a joystick to play BF3 or not?  Have you tried playing BF3 with only keyboard and mouse with the joystick unplugged since unsupported accessories may contribute to your game not running?

i used a JS for flight in BF 2 with no issues.

but have you tried removing them to play bf3?

the first route to finding a solution is to nail down the cause.

OP like Starscream asked, are you using a joystick in BF3?  BF2 and BF3 use completely different graphics engines and coding and have 7 years of development between them so just because a joystick woked in BF2 does not guarentee that it will work with BF3.  If you are using a joystick in BF3 please unplug it and see if it solves your problem because as Starscreamuk said the first step in troubleshooting a problem is to eliminate potential causes until you can narrow down the cause to one specific issue.
