BF3 multilayer total system crash after around 20 minutes playtime

Hey im having trouble playing bf3 in multilayer my system goes to a total freeze and then restarts without logging anny error .i have been trying to fix this problems for weeks now without luck ( its hard to fix a problem when its not even logt some place and you cant trace it source )

so here are some key points i found with my total system crash

*it ONLY happens in bf3 multilayer ( singelplayer works fine ... and anny other game like arma 3 on max settings with 100 people on one server works just fine )

*it happens after around 20 minuts ca + - ~ 10 minuts ?

its not driver relatet ( all drivers and firmware have been updatet version for version one stepp up until last version availebil )

* total system check dint found anny problem ( memory test has ben runn for 2 days [most intense windows 8 memory test you can run] cpu test was fine (prime95) . hdd test was ok. and runing havy benchmarks for 2 days straigt was ok) even temparatures where in normal range ( cpu 55 c degrees , gpu normal temp (i have a gainwart gefoce titan , so clock speeds here are controled by nvidia gpu boos to keep a tempuratures , temp has been verifyed by me with a monitor )

*bf3 dose not reach maximum cpu level or gpu lvl

* when the system crash while im still on ts3 ( total system frees on screen) .. i can talk to people for around 1 minut before i see my bios screen

so i dont know ..i update every singe firmware and driver and even downgraded my nvidia drivers becouse of some bugs that i read about bf3 but still the same thing.. nothing seems to work and i cant find anny logs that even point me some sort of problem. i had my temp monitor open when the crash happent and temps where normal so its not an overhead annywhere on the system .,.. im basicly stuck with a game i cant play ? the problem began for a month or 2 ago for me .. befor i could play bf3 just fine .. i even totaly reinstalt my windows without anny luck ... i would love anny help here thanks ..

  • Well, I have a few ideas 🙂

    • Make sure Origin doesn't have connection issues (https://help.ea.com/article/connection-issues-with-origin)
    • Make sure the correct ports for BF3 is open (https://help.ea.com/article/online-ports-for-battlefield-3)
    • Try setting bf3.exe as a trusted application in the windows(/other) firewall
    • If you have a Realtek soundcard try disabling it in the BIOS
    • Try deleting the BF3 Settings folder in C:/Users/USERNAME/My Documents/Battlefield 3
    • Use Windows Eventviewer to look if there's an error and copy/paste it as xml here
    • Run Origin and Battlefield 3 as administrator (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ff431742.aspx)
    • Go to the cloud button on BF3 and uncheck the “enable cloud storage for all games” box. Launch the game, quit it and re-enable the cloud storage box. Make sure to use the local data when the information box popping up.
    • Remove all overclocking and check if that works
    • Try closing all possible background applications + windows defender

Please accept solutions if they are correct and press the XP button if somebody helped you. This way you help others in the same situation.

    Cheers

  • Hey

There Are no conection issues with Even bf or origin (connection issues would never produce a fatal system crash.

    User acount control is off.

d bf3 runs as an admin. My motherboard has an soundvlaster soundcard so but im using the g35 headset for sound (like you can see from the dxdiag)

Also as statet i formatet my pc an still have the same issues.

No overclocking is Applied to the system ( tho the geforce titan ato overclocks becouse of the gpu boost, but that cant be turnt off since its a build in the gpu for all 600 geforce series and above that.

As statet earlier event log dose not show annything beside from unknow and unexpectet system reboot. From my earlier experience i cyeckt if my ssd wasent crashing like the old Kingston ssd,  but the Samsung 840pro ssd did not crash.

Also i dont belive wrong settings can crash a system like that or Even origin since it dose not ave acces to core system and just would crash the program itself. I belive that i have some experience that ican rely on. To behonost i belive there is a bug in the game exe that create a overload of the cpu og.memory or gpu on calculations on certan system that crahses the Windows kernel. This can only Be done by a bug in the direct x programing /c++ Code. Since its also time based. So question here what can i do beside the standard thing (that i tried already from earlyer forum post i read)

    Hi m8,

Can you tell me what your memory usage is just before the crash.

It could be a memory leak in bf3 combined with a unsupported win 8 since last few updates. Heard it before.

So see if your gpu and vram are stable.

Yea same thing i think. So its strangr they dont have win 8 support. They should have it. 😛

a gonna check the ram and cpu usage. And see if i can track gpu valurs too.  When i get back from work.

w you heard simular problems with Windows 8 on bf befor?  After some patches?

so i completet the test runs .. i cant see nothing unusual her ... cpu usage was at 36% total and had a temp of 51 degrees celcius.

ram: startet the map with around 900 mb but when it crashd i climbt up to 1300 mb. so the resouce monitor showd a high number of har fault when the crash appeard . from what i read har faults are not memory errors but programing errors .. nothing to worry about here normaly http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Page_fault

beside from that nothing unusual ... it looks like fast round that end before 15 minuts play time are no problem but anny game round over that makes my pc crash ...

from arma 3 stress test the cpu usage is around 56 % and memory usage is 2 gb + ram no crash here and no hard faults.

intesive memory test ( that took 24 hours ) dint show anny problems at all ... so im stuck ....i have no good idea what causes the crash beside from bf3 game exe ...

edit .. i found only one error that repeatet like 8 times right when the crash appert under program its about a file that could not be found in the app data folder .. tho there are non critical files and error so that should not crash my pc :/
