Can't launch BF1

I recently reinstalled BF1 and went to launch it, but I keep getting this error after the "Preparing game" pop-up.

    I got it on Steam. I tried verifying the files, and it didn't find anything. I was able to fix it by uninstalling and installing BF1 again and deleting my configs.

    Was the game purchased on Steam or the EA App? Have you tried repairing the game?
