This issue is maddening. It is upsetting that I have over $100 into this game and I can barely play it now. Issue seems to coincide with the new UI release and the Battlefield 1 Beta release. I've been hosed since then.
As you mention a new UI I presume you are using a console of some sort?

Quick match has been buggy for about two years now so the server browser is the superior method to find games. Just open multiplayer, then server browser and then click R3 to set the filters for the games that you wish to find and unlike quick match you are guaranteed to only join servers with players. This will allow you to find populated games faster than with quick match.
