How can I install BF1 with my friends files?

I don't have the ability to be able to download the due to internet cap (sigh).

So i'm trying to install with my friends game files.

So far I put the game files into D:\Program Files(x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 1
I installed Origin launcher

And then I attempted to launch through the launcher and it's trying to get me to download the game
Then I tried launching through the game .exe in the  D:\Program Files(x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 1 file, but that wanted me to have a CD Key or said the game wasn't installed. (Trial exe and the full game exe had different messages)

What can I do?

I also should mention that I am running Origin Access only at the moment.

  • In Origin over-view and your Library, right-click Battlefield 1. Have you tried using the Repair function?

With other Origin games like Mass Effect 3, you could copy and paste the game files and then try to download the game to the same directory/folder. Origin would download a few megs of file data and then pop straight to 100%. This might take several minutes while the application makes sure you have all the correct files.

However, if you've just copy&pasted the files, then you might be missing some important .dll files and maybe even registry entries. Try repair first, download trick second and if that doesn't work, might be out of luck.

I can't find the repair function but I have tired your second solution, it seems to acknownledge 10gig of the data but it still gives me a 30gig download. (The files I have from my friend total 47gig)

If you would like to copy the files from your friend's PC to yours, follow the steps below EXACTLY and you will be able to do so:

    1. Copy the game folder (i.e "Battlefield 1") to an external drive (or USB drive)
    2. Once transferred re-name the folder "Copy of ..."
    3. Connect the drive to the PC you wish to install the game on
    4. Transfer the folder to the drive that you are planning on installing the game to ( the C drive, D drive, etc)
    5. Open up your Origin Client
    6. Right-click on the game you want to download / install and select "Download"
    7. Let the download go for about 30-60 sec and hit "Pause" (or the Pause symbol)
    8. Find the folder on the drive that it is downloading to
    9. Open up the folder that the games are in and delete ALL files in that folder, but LEAVE THE FOLDER THERE
    10. Now go to the folder you transferred from the external source (Copy of ...) and select and copy ALL the files inside that folder (not the folder itself)
    11. Go to the folder that Origin created and you just deleted the files from and Paste the files from the "Copy of ..." folder
    12. Go back to your Origin Client and press resume on the download
    13. It will now take a min or two and then your download will jump to 100% and install the game
    14. Enjoy!!!

  • You will have to do same thing (-backup files -start download -pause download -paste files -restart origin -resume download)

But: You have to change "HKEY LOCAL MACHINE>EA GAMES>BATTLEFIELD1>INSTALLDIR " registry value to directory before resume download. Then restart origin and download will be done about 1 minutes. 🤔

Actually, that shouldn't be necessary anymore. Since a recent update to Origin, you should be able to move the files to the default installation folder, Origin should then scan the folder for any present files and check them, ultimately only downloading whats missing.
