How ON EARTH do I install BF3 on PC?

Hi, I just bought BF3.
I'm all excited to play it, but I've been sitting on my laptop for the last 3 hours trying to get the damn thing running!
1) I inserted the disc. I click install... nothing happens. I reboot multiple times, to no avail. THEN I find out online that I need to download and install origin. I do this.
2) I log in with my account, that I made when i played dead space on my iPad. I still remember my login credentials.
I log in... the password isn't correct! I change the password... use my CORRECT email and CORRECT password... Your email or password is incorrect! WTSF!!!!!!!
Now, i have to make another account. (Done successfully)

3) I finally get BF3 to run. I enter my product key... it starts installing. Then it starts DOWNLOADING. I reboot multiple times... Then i find online that i have to uninstall then reinstall origin so it doesn't download. I do this, then it installs off the disc. ( I didn't want it to download the file, as I have an internet cap.)

4) It has finlally installed... I click play. It wants to update. A FREAKING 6GB FILE!!!!!!!!!! I click cancel, then I click play now. It then opens battlelog online. I need to install multiple plugins for this. By now... I'm mad to say the least. It then says i need to do what i did an hour ago... INSTALL THE GAME to play. OMG.

EA... I bought your game. You've made a bad first impression. I just wanna play the damn game... HOW DO I PLAY IT!!?! Farout, at least show me how to use origin and BATTLELOG online to play. Get your stuff straight. If this doesn't work... last time im buying an EA product!

I'm gonna assume you got your login details.. well, whatever.. new acc. sounds inconvenient.

    (average player here)

I remember doing similar.. I wanted to play today not tommorow, ie install from dvd(s?)

No multiplayer without the.. 6gb's of patches out now? oh yeah that's right.. BF3 expansion information/maps n all, regardless of whether you have access to them. assist compatibility between client installs.   So multiplayer is off the cards till your cap handles.. or lugg pc somewhere, dl patches.

Set browser to offline mode (or disconnect internet) Launch BF3 from origin (it has an offline mode possibly)

Browser window pops up.. Play single player..  mission menu's are all in the browser window, Launch game.

Game launches.. video/audio etc options are within game. Best of luck with it/

Can't whinge about patch files, every multiplayer game that is well maintained/popular has comparable.. though 6gb is a lot.

  • All you have I do is to download bf3 at origin.com. And if you do not have an origin account you have to make one.

    1. Load Origin.

    2. Hover over the Battlefield 3 picture in your Games List and select the, "i" button.

    3. Right Click the download status and select, "Cancel or Uninstall button."

The above will stop the download and clear the current information downloaded.

    4. Minimize the Origin Client.

    5. Insert the Battlefield 3 disc and exit out of the Autorun screen.

    6. Go to, My Computer > Right click your DVD drive where the Battlefield 3 disc is located.

    7. Select, "Open or Explore."

This is going to get you into the Battlefield 3 disc to view the installation files.

    8. Double click on Setup.exe.

    9. If Origin install pops up, exit out of that.

    10. Select your language for the Battlefield 3 Installation.

    11. Install from the disc.

Origin should pop up and show that it is installing from the disc. In previous versions of the Origin Client, it would say that it is "Downloading" even though it was installing from the disc but the latest version of the Origin Client should say, "Installing."

  • This simpliest way to install BF3 on your PC if you are receiving errors during an attempted installation from physical media is to redeem your CD key in origin.  This will give you a digital copy of the game and bypass any errors that you get while installing from disc.

To do this log into your PC origin client, click the "origin" menu in the top left hand corner, then click on "redeem product code" and enter your BF3 CD key.  After BF3 installs, if you have purchased BF3 premium or any stand alone expansion packs right click the BF3 icon in your games library and select "show game details" then on each expansion right click and select "download".  After all selected expansions download you can play BF3 on the expansion packs. Then go to Battlelog, multiplayer, server browser and at the top of the page add the new expansion maps and game modes to your server browser filter settings to find games on the new maps.
